The task force just rubber stamped it but I think it might be a hard sell to the legislature. Especially the bullshit hicks is trying to pass along regarding the increase will bring WY "in line with other states."

Those numbers do not make sense in the article.

Looking at the wgfd website,

nonresident landowner reduced price doe/fawn tag is $287, $349 full price, $629 special

Deer: $389/$677 reg/spc

Elk: $707/$1289 reg/spc

I don't see anything that shows a $576 elk tag or $288 deer.

The locals have a say NR not so much. Cant see why it won’t pass.

They might try to bypass the trespass rule. Thats why GWs dont enforce the trespass thing. Its nit that they promote it, they suppisedly dont have authority. That will fix corner crossing when GWs start issuing citations. Solves that issue. Wonder why this was brought to the table? LoL!

Times sure have changed. Back in the 70's an antelope and a deer license were $50 each. Used to drive to Wyoming and knock on a ranch house door and ask to hunt. Never was turned down and the rancher charged $10-$15. Antelope and Mule deer everywhere. Ah the good old days!

Then the internet came along and ruined everything

you're looking in the wrong spot
The fee for special is an amount 'in addition to"

(i) Nonresident elk license ...... $576.00 $1,258.00 in addition to the license fee imposed under paragraph (j)(xix) of this section;

(ii) Nonresident deer license .... $288.00 $826.00 in addition to the license fee imposed under paragraph (j)(xv) of this section;

(iii) Nonresident antelope license ..... $288.00 $874.00 in addition to the license fee imposed under paragraph (j)(xxxi) of this section.

Before this turns into another Wyoming hate thread--It's a very simple answer why:

"The Commission receives no State General Funds." Essentially, WGFD has to generate its own budget. Tag numbers are dropping and agency costs are increasing. All other WY state agencies are primarily supported by State General Funds. I can speak with certainty, an $88.5M annual budget is barely enough to run anything let alone a state agency with the amount of responsibility WGFD has.
That’s 2020 numbers. Curious what the numbers will look like after they kicked all the non-res big 5 points holders in the ball sack?

We truly are pricing out a lot lower to middle class people that are just hoping to travel across state lines to enjoy the public lands (and hunting thereon) we all own. It’s sad. I don’t support the tag fees in my home state (Idaho) or places like this. I know it costs money to fund a state agency and I get it.

I really though don’t see where it ends because even if it goes so high that the number of tag sales decrease, most residents will support that because it means less people in the field. I know there is a budgetary breaking point… and I guess that’s what every state is inching towards.

he's been against points since he started

But his point about using them versus playing some fantasy waiting game is spot on. Applying for tags I'll never draw with points is my plan. #randomorbust

No way I'm paying $800 for a deer tag unless it's in one of the top units.

But of course, we will be Wyoming residents before long so it won't matter.
