Yeah it's probably not that much 15-20K. I see why they did it. Just sucks waiting that long. Archery hunt starts right after the draw.
Archery season starts September 1, draw date will be around May 20.
How much time do you need?

Well you should have pushed the application date back so everything was set before anyone had to apply for a tag that may or may not be available.Yeah, the last thing to do is make changes that benefit biologists, wildlife and follow state regulations and statute...
Better to put convenience, selfishness, and greed in front of all that.

AND , wyoming gives NO refunds. So if you were to draw , say New Mexico, for example. Then you are out the money for one or the other. That , or just dont apply for NM or many other states. Depend on successful draw in WY and hope you arent left hanging.........
Like epstein.
Bud I live in Utah very aware of the politics of wildlife management everyone has an agenda that doesn't start or end at what's best for wildlife.Your understanding of all things hunting, including the politics involved, is severely lacking...nothing new there.
Bitch to WOGA...the application deadline was their baby, not mine.
Ya I guess to each their own but I’ll not be applying WY until I have points to %100 draw from now on. No way I’ll gamble on that. Most blue collar guys can’t either. Waiting 5 months on results is ridiculous.

Sounds like a personal problem. Make sure the tags you apply for don't have seasons that overlap, choose to apply in only one state, or eat one of the tags.
Also, you can withdraw or change your Wyoming application until May 8...you don't lose anything until the drawing is completed.
You have options...

Well we all have options and the point is for non res WY just became a crap option unless you have %100 chance of drawing. Hopefully WY will wise up and move app date to a reasonable time away from the draw date.

Not likely, Wyoming Residents, the Department, and Commission put wildlife and science based management first.
For the record, Wyoming draw dates are NOW about in line with the rest of the country, and for good reason as already noted.
Apply in Arizona then...Wyoming will sell every one of their elk tags and I bet applications increase again this year.Draw dates are one thing. I’m talking about app deadline being closer to the draw. Least AZ keeps getting it right.

I don’t like holding my money that long, who would? The kicker for me is, I won’t know if I drew an elk tag before the deer deadline. I can’t afford to do both, so now I’ll be forced to apply for one or the other.
