It changes the app strategy for sure. I bet WY will fix the issue of setting on apps that long.

I seriously doubt it. I emailed WYOGA about it before it was passed and they were dead set against changing the application date. They came right out and said that they want to lock up clients before other states. They have enough power that it won't change. The draw date won't change now, either. As NR hunters we need to learn to live with it, or go elsewhere. I'm just glad they are giving us an "out" with the May 8th change date.

Less non-resident tags and losing the early draw date. Sounds like a win to me.

Dead wrong...by regulation/statute NR's are guaranteed 7,250 full price elk tags, 16% of LQ elk tags, and 16% of cow/calf tags.

NR's can also apply in the second draw and because of that, the 7250 cap, 16% of LQ tags and cow/calf tags are exceeded. Meaning NR's get a lot more than the minimum amount of tags assured them via statute/regulation.

Nothing to complain about.

Ive found him to be quite the opposite and about the only voice a nr diy guy has at commission meetings.

Yeah, but you stick to the facts and don't have an ax to grind...

A few of us lobbied the Commission pretty hard to push the application dead line closer to the later draw date. WOGA knew the later draw date was a forgone conclusion, so they shoved all their chips in to maintain the application deadline.

The commission at least realized NR's needed a way to withdraw an application and/or change their draw choices.

Isn't perfect but workable for all I think.

Hey Bob thanks for your perspective. I find that the majority of Buzz posts have him coming off like a pompous ass but no one should ever trust the internet. Might be the way he types,or more likely the way I read it. I do really respect the time and effort Buzz puts in even when it doesn't aline with my own views.

I don’t like holding my money that long, who would? The kicker for me is, I won’t know if I drew an elk tag before the deer deadline. I can’t afford to do both, so now I’ll be forced to apply for one or the other.

Yes you will have time...the elk draw will be done before the application deadline for deer and pronghorn.

An axe to grind.......that's rich....says the guy that is the first to tell other people how to do their job (which he has zero clue about). Real rich....

I would pay for a lifetime bha membership if buzz wasn't affiliated with them....and I hate bha....

Do ever add any value to a thread and stay on topic?

If you shot as much game as you do your mouth, people might actually mistake you for a hunter.

My point exactly. Fear not folks, the weather has turned, so our pot bellied FS employee will be around to answer questions about how great he is for the next couple of days. (Wouldn't expect him to get out in the nasty weather)

If I ran my mouth about being an "all knowing clown" I'd be Buzz Hettick. Well maybe add in "using your tax dollars to scout and be a know it all about nothing blowhard".....THEN and only then would I be Buzzard.

The only "point" you ever have is the one atop your noggin'...

Sure. Says the one who ran his suck hole about my entire profession without a clue about it.....go get more training buzz....you need it ;)

Don’t recall the comment...but must have been right on target. Funny how facts sore some up.

Buzz is a good dude, but he says things like they are without sugarcoating them. I can see how he can rub someone the wrong way if they are overly sensitive, which is all too common these days. He’s offered me plenty of good advice in the past, expecting nothing in return. He might be a little arrogant, but he can back it up. He’s a net positive to any forum he participates in, and is a net positive for NR hunters in Wyoming, in my opinion. I don’t blame him one bit for not fighting harder to change the NR application date. He can only fight so many battles and, in this case, he chose the more important one.
