At least they manage game properly so you can have a good hunt instead of selling OTC licenses to everyone who is willing to buy one.
You're kidding right? Having some of the best deer habitat in the country and leaving it as a general hunt for all residents is managing game properly???

I think this is all about financial float for the G&F. Once the final number are set in April hold the drawing and the results by early May. Who is Sy Gillilands? They are holding a lot of money for a very long time to cover their overhead. I agree they manage the game better than most. Just my 2 cents worth

And??? The deer hunting is still some of the best in the west. I have friends living in Wyoming. They make sacrifices to live there. How would you like it if you couldn’t buy a hunting license where you live because someone 2000 miles away wanted it instead. You could always move there.

Yeah, "managing" is tough to sell when it's only a draw system for NR. It hasn't been the NR hunters who have swarmed the high country and knocked animal numbers down in certain units. True management would limit tags from both groups, residents and nonresidents.

If they live there then their license would come out of the resident pool so they wouldn't be competing with someone 2000 miles away. Unless they were crazy enough to apply as NR. It's not a true "managed" system until they limit numbers in zones for everyone.

Plenty of LQ managed areas in Wyoming where everyone is limited. I have experience in Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, and New Mexico. In my opinion Wyoming does a pretty good job balancing keeping residents happy, providing true trophy areas for all, and keeping herd objectives in line.

Also no state that I know of does the extensive amount of research on habitat and migrations like they do over on the west side. The online meeting last week was fantastic! Gary Fralick and his associates are on top of it not only managing game for the present but also with a mind to the future.

I would also point out that residents there get the short end of the stick for a lot of the hunt areas. I have been able to draw a particular area 3 times, due to PP, while several of my resident friends have not drawn it yet. They do not have PP for deer and antelope so in those pure LQ areas, they may actually draw many of them less frequently than non-residents.

Gary Fralick is such a legend. I love the years where I get to speak with him on the phone at length.

I have to think that unlimited Resident tags for certain areas make less of a difference when the entire states population is less than 600,000... That's about 10% of the CO population.

Very true! It doesn’t take much to get everyone upset after the way game and fish basically made a complete mess outta of the NR draw system. I’m not sure they coulda screwed it up any worse

With the withdraw date after the NM results are out I can get over it.

I'm just eager for them to release the results!!!! Had some good days at work the past few days and I want to ask for 2 weeks off before something goes South!!!

I saw the email from WY Game and Fish come through and perked up thinking Christmas had come a day early. Probably won't be the last time I'm disappointed by WY in the next 24 hours.

Any bets on what a General tag is going to go for this year?
100% @ 3pts or think it's not guaranteed?

Not just silly, It's worse than what they had. Should have just combined it with the rest of the E/D/A draws but if you've watched that meeting, you know the Commission discounted virtually all of the nr comments that were submitted and instead believed sy gillilands take on what nr want, and here we are.
Which meeting was that? I’d like to watch it on YouTube but they are extremely long on YouTube
