Currently at 2 points for deer/elk/antelope in both Colorado and Wyoming. Im not opposed to any hunt, but want to make sure I got on one. If you were in my shoes what would you do? Open to all states also.

I would look at my draw odds and pick the best option of the units I've researched. I WOULDN'T simply post a question on a website asking randos where to go and what to do.

Guess i should have started out with i honestly dont have much of a preference with what I want to do is why I am asking. Was hoping someone would chime in with there plans (Not units or anything like that) to hopefully peak my interest into what I should start looking into before the draws.

Go on the website and figure draw odds for both states. Only you can decide what hunt interests you, and the season dates that work well.

Your current approach isn't going to yield helpful responses. I predict responses start getting pretty snarky. In defense of that snarkiness, you're about the 1 millionth person to post a question like this looking for handouts/free advice. I'm not trying to be rude, it's just that this thread isn't going to be helpful for your decision making.

I plan to venture out into the vast public lands of Colorado and shoot an elk in a unit that I can get a tag with the number of points I have. I plan to camp for the duration of the season or until I tag out. My hunt will likely consist of lots of hiking and glassing until I find an animal I want to pursue.

See why the way you're asking about this isn't going to result in a helpful answer? You should start looking into what units you will be able to draw with the points you have, whether there is accessible and plentiful public land in those units, what the season dates are most appropriate for you, what the weather may be like in those units during that time of year, what the elevation and terrain will be like and whether you're up for it...nobody can do the research for you or tell you what hunt will be best for you.

I’ll make this real easy. 2 points in Wy isn’t getting you any decent tags unless you get lucky in the random. 2 Colorado antelope points also isn’t getting you anything decent. That leaves Co deer and elk that can be drawn with 2 points, which is probably going to be a 1st season tag (or maybe muzzy) in a OTC unit for elk or a archery, muzzy or 2nd rifle buck tag in a easy to draw unit.

Obviously there are hundreds of options but that’s where I would start my research.

I would look at the units with the highest draw odds that are closest to my location. Then I would try to scout it out and make my hunt count. Then hopefully keep drawing that tag and learn the unit better to be more successful.

I'll say what you're about to do. Spend a lot -o- money in tags, travel, etc. with a 90+ % chance that you'll go home with nothing. When it's all over and you're back home, you'll wonder what you did.

What I would do first is is determine for myself what I want to do. Your question and parameters (...open to any state??) are way to unfocused and broad. Until you identify what you want to do, it's hard for anyone to offer you much useful guidance or help. I would also take some of the advice that's been offered about researching units, draw odds and success rates and plan my hunt from there.
