Help choosing between 2 tags for 2025

Where I hunt WY would be considered the edge of grizz country. I'm more afraid of thunderstorms/severe weather, skeletal injury/fall, fire mishap, pocket knife slip, or other general dumbassery
Soon as you do like we did and see 7 IN ONE DAY on the edge of griz country, you may change your mind.

The more I start googling the area the more it seems to pretty much be griz country. Prob not where you would go looking if you were trying to find one, but no reason they couldn't be present. Spent several weeks in the area solo way way back in the 2019 season. Thankfully only ran into black bear.

Maybe look for a 2nd Choice Type 4 or Type 3 or even RP cow/calf with good draw odds.

At least you get to go hunting
Thanks for the tip! I've never really looked into anything other than the type 1 or type 6/7 tags for WY. Will def check those out as a plan B.

I would not be upset to be in a good unit hearing and seeing bulls but with a cow tag.

Elk are doing great is western WY after the hard winter. No need to worry about that.

I’d 100% go for WY and to the area you know. CO could be a crap shoot.
I've never seen winter kill elk. (except for when they build houses on every square foot of the winter range) They have antifreeze for blood. Cold doesn't seem to bother them.
Deer and antelope, thats a different story...
