Would you buy this scope?

On the podcast they said it would apply to the new scope, that ZeroTech manages all of it, that they would likely just flat replace instead of repair, and that they have a distributor in the US. So, I wouldn’t worry much about it.

This reticle is awesome. Big bold bars that should look good at lower powers. No ridiculous holdovers or Christmas Trees. Practical windage holds for hunters that can be used for moving leads if needed. Nothing in the top half obscuring the view.

It's late in the process, but If I had any other request it would be to add hydrophobic coating to the lenses to shed rain. I was reminded of this a few weeks back hunting in drenching rain and my NXS required a lot of babysitting to keep the lenses usable.

I think one thing to call out from the podcast is Ryan and Jake raving about the ZT leadership, their openness to work on this scope and partnership, etc. Thought that was a good callout.

Ie - Not just using them to get to LOW, etc.

Im sold on the usability of this optic on the low end of the magnification range using the german-esque center post. Looks like an excellent concept.

What I am not particularly sold on is the rest of the reticle on upper end of the magnification range. The square and lower circle seem busy and distract from the center dot. HOWEVER, I think that I really need to try it before I knock it. I understand the specific use cases for those items and would like to give it a shot.

The glass is intriguing for this price point based on Forms posts. I am greatly ignorant on qualities of glass and coatings, but in my experience with mid range scopes I have been just fine in low light. I do have 20/12 vision so that helps.

The ruggedness and reliability is a factor but what I would look for in any optic albeit a bit cheaper with this scope.

The most compelling aspect of this scope would be the ability to test, discuss and analyze with this forum simultaneously.

Does it ever cross anyone's mind that you're paying extra for the "amazing" warranty? Same as the extra protection you can purchase at stores for electronics, phones, etc. People love the warm fuzzy feeling they get from knowing something will be replaced if they break it. If it's something you can afford to fix/replace out of pocket, the extended warranties are generally not worth it. These are huge moneymakers or they wouldn't be offering them.

Give me a good product at a fair price that I won't need to send into to get fixed. Any reputable company will fix anything that has a manufacturing defect. Warranties are mainly a sales tactic. Maybe they used to be to back up a stellar product but now the MO seems to be to offer a mediocre product with an "amazing" warranty with enough markup to cover the warrantied items and a large profit margin because people rave about the amazing warranty and it sells products.

I think what's different here though is that UM/ZT/S2H are offering the same replacement warranty as, say Vortex or Nightforce - but not with Vortex's rubbish quality that means you'll likely need it, or NF's premium price.

So: they're showing that it is possible to bring a very robust scope to market, have a reasonable retail price, and still stand behind it.

Have you looked at Thomas's last few posts in this thread, and the discussion of the full THLR reticle in the ZP5 Q&A thread? All of this is answered there.

There’s a reason that every single part of the reticle is the way it is. No part of it was done “just because”. The square and lower circle are a vital part to the beauty and functionality of the reticle. Rest assured, it’s not a distraction. It brings your eye to focus on the center automatically, without even thinking about it. @THLR designed it using the mechanics of the eye, and how it works. It’s brilliant and amazing. Thomas only does stuff on purpose.
