Would you buy this scope?

After listening to the podcast, it sounds like for $6k and 6 months we can get a proper MOA reticle made. . I’ll show myself the door.

I think preorders are a great idea. For us north of the border the big question is who/ how will they be retailing/ distributing them. We have a UM distributor and Zero tech as well. Obviously the latter would be better for both tariffs and cutting out the middleman markup (for reference Rokstoks are around $1100 currently and I’m sure they were ordered a long ways back).

Is this the same internals as the zero tech trace advanced?

He has stated multiple times that the internals are the latest greatest that LOW has to offer so not likely that they were used in that scope.

I wouldn’t be against paying before they leave LOW. Not too unlike a drop ship. An added inspection in there somewhere if I understand correctly.

Yea I would happily pay full price for 2-3 when they first place the order to endure I get them. Deposit is fine but also happy to put up full cash as the number of scopes to meet demand is a lot to float.

What's this "we" hivemind perspective? I would love for it to have been Vortex or even better Leupold. Their no-questions-asked-smash-your-scope-and-we'll-send-you-a-new-one-and-a-hat warranty is amazing. Maven also has this type of warranty. Given that LOW is the manufacturer, the only benefit of the retailer will be warranty once it hits production.

Vortex scopes don't hold zero, but most of their other stuff is completely serviceable. Same with Leupold. Seems like at least Vortex is starting to notice the ruggedization demand.

Does it ever cross anyone's mind that you're paying extra for the "amazing" warranty? Same as the extra protection you can purchase at stores for electronics, phones, etc. People love the warm fuzzy feeling they get from knowing something will be replaced if they break it. If it's something you can afford to fix/replace out of pocket, the extended warranties are generally not worth it. These are huge moneymakers or they wouldn't be offering them.

Give me a good product at a fair price that I won't need to send into to get fixed. Any reputable company will fix anything that has a manufacturing defect. Warranties are mainly a sales tactic. Maybe they used to be to back up a stellar product but now the MO seems to be to offer a mediocre product with an "amazing" warranty with enough markup to cover the warrantied items and a large profit margin because people rave about the amazing warranty and it sells products.

It's an investment haha, buy the one for 649, wait 5 years, send in for warranty and get the 1249 one as a replacement. Only piece of hunting/shooting equipment I've made money on haha

Agreed, people just love a company that sells a product with a lifetime warranty you can almost garentee they will have to use. The future is looking up when it comes to durable optics and I think it does have a lot to do with what goes on here. Thanks again to the guys who put this in play.

FWIW, ZeroTech has a lifetime transferable unconditional warranty too.

If you’re paying MSRP for vortex you didn’t do any research - they’re frequently like 40% off. But on the flip side, you can buy used for even cheaper with full confidence. Their optics are perfectly fine, with price categories that hunters trying to make ends meet can get into. This argument doesn’t hold water.

Any elitist hunter that NEEDS swaro glass to kill a deer is a dork. Know your equipment, know its limitations and go kill stuff.

I appreciate companies out there making good warranty and good CS a requisite to be in this business. I do think rifle scopes specifically need to hold zero, but almost all other features are nice to haves. I can’t wait until vortex starts making tough scopes with decent reticles.

On the podcast they said it would apply to the new scope, that ZeroTech manages all of it, that they would likely just flat replace instead of repair, and that they have a distributor in the US. So, I wouldn’t worry much about it.

Zero Tec have really captured the market in Australia in recent years, they are the most stocked scope on dealer shelves.
I know a couple of blokes that use them in competition and they seem to work well.
