Would you buy this scope?

Any currently available product loses some percentage of its value when you take it out of the store. My usual estimate is that I will lose 20-30% off sale price on any item I resell if there is a new version available. Optics and firearms have the additional loss from the trust factor - has it been dropped? Is the barrel shot out?

Also, most people don’t buy at MSRP. My new Trijicon 3-9x40 Accupoint was $598. On sale at EuroOptic, it was $650. MSRP is $998. As a reputable seller, I think I could get $600 for it if I was patient.

I understand item depreciation. However over 50% should be a concern. That's the same thing as trying to sell a maven rs1.2 for $500.

$1200 for an item available at $1600 new is a very reasonable price.

Remember, we're talking 50% of MSRP - not 50% of high value on the open market.

50% off of MSRP might be 80% of high market value. 80% of street price.

First thing I do in checking into the value of a gun or scope I might be interested in, is hit gunbroker to get an idea of market pricing, not MSRP. That'll usually tell you what a reasonable price range is, and what a good deal is.

Maybe I just have trust issues. But I don't understand why someone would sell a quality "gently used" scope for less than 50% of the MSRP.
that scope semi-regularly goes for a sale price of ~$1200
I bought one at that price once. Good scope for that money. Seller probably bought at that time too and just isn't trying to make a buck.

That was me. Bought many at 1200, unloaded here at around a grand. Don't care what they happen to cost at some random period of time. Wait for Black Friday at this point and you too shall have one new for 1200.

Eh, **** it lol. You guys just spent my next overtime check...
The classifieds here are heavily monitored and much appreciated, usually with a little background work you can vet a member pretty quickly and buy with confidence. I've bought and sold a pile of stuff on here.

Ironically, my first transaction was one of the most expensive gear purchases I've ever made, got a really good deal on a Swaro HD spotter. The seller had me call him and gave me the rundown on how serious members take the classifieds and how to go about verifying all you can to be safe.
