Wool clothing

When hunting NW coast of WA, if it is no longer raining, I ditch my rain jacket, and usually am just wearing a light weight wool flannel. I find that it sheds water great, and keeps me warn enough if I stop, but I am pretty much constantly moving in that environment. Even with heavy rain soaked vegetation the wool flannel works perfectly.

Usually just wear tin pants and a wool flannel. CAVEAT: This is not backpack hunting. This is dark 30 to the end of shooting light, then back to camp or home. Not sure if I would pack wool for backpack hunting...

Yep nearly always. allways merino base layer and then often a woolen shirt and woolen jersey
its nice a warm and quite in the bush. warm when wet. does not smell like fleece
only down fall is jerseys get very heavy when wet.

I'll be going in for my hunt this year with the FL Kanab pants, (Merino), and the Cabela's Diamantina Merino jacket. It is an awesome piece. Super warm, lightweight, very athletic, streamlined fit, and very comfortable. It's not great in the wind, but I'll have 2 merino base layers under it, so I should be OK. If the wind is too cold, I'll don my rain gear, but I don't really plan on it. I've hunted deer out of a tree 20' up, in a 20 MPH wind, and still been comfortable. I've not worn the Kanab's out hunting yet, but the customer reviews speak for themselves. I will be wearing gaiters, to keep the moisture down off of my lower legs and boots. Expensive? Yes, but that is what Merino is, but so far, it seems to be worth it. Good luck.
