Howa Mini Rifles, Builds, and Upgrades

Figured I'd post on here to spread the info, just noticed the group buy for Unknowns new OG6-S is live on the Suppressor Forum. I got to handle it the other day in store and I think its what my Mini 6arc has been waiting for. Only 3 inches forward of the barrel will finish out nicely on a "heavy" 20".

If I was building my SBR mini again, I would be hard pressed not to just do a 16” barrel with the 6OG instead. Don’t have to worry about all the SBR crap, pretty much the same weight and only a couple inches longer.

Thank you for mentioning this! I had talked to one of the Unkown guys via DM and he mentioned he'd hook me up on the initial release if I hit him up. If you hadn't mentioned it here I probably would have missed out on the group buy.

And they are gone.
All 25 were gone same day. The owner made a few posts on 24hr campfire. He said Tuesdays and Thursdays around 1pm CST are the times to keep an eye out. I was in a class and was refreshing their page every 10 minutes and saw them hit.

I’m currently building one of these out and it will be my first bolt action. I already have the JO hinged floorplate BM, and Stockys Hunter stock. Order placed yesterday for new OG6 and thread adapter. I’m planning to get the 6ARC mini barreled action from Brownells, chop it down to 16” theead 1/2x28, and hoping to dig up a SWFA 3-9x at some point.

What are would be my best options for mounting the scope? DNZ game reaper 2, or a one piece pic rail with rings of choice? Also do I need medium rings for 42mm objective, or can I get away with lows?

I would like to not have to question whether or not the scope mount(s) are durable or cause of problems.

@Fred@Exterra has a really nice one piece that I'm going to be ordering soon. Looks like a well thought out mount. I have Talley Lightweights just to get the build out and shooting before bear season. Heard some horror stories so looking to replace them soon.

I appreciate it. We’ve been running quite a few of them, so we should have some inventory built up before I get side tracked by turkeys and bears :)

Here’s a set of the Exterra Howa Mini scope rings on my new 223… my new fun gun.

Why not just thread 5/8" & not dick with the adapter?

so im sure its on here somewhere if anyone else has had this issue, but i dont have time to read all the pages. my stock trigger works good enuf, however, every few shots its like the 2 stage doesnt work. it gets gritty as all get out and hard pull on the first stage, can kinda maybe tell when it hits the second stage, maybe. most of the time its fine, but every few shots it does this. any thoughts.

It’s a well documented issue with little to do to fix it. If you’ve cut or changed the spring that will make it worse. So far the only things that have helped are increasing the trigger pull, polishing all the contact points in the trigger, and cocking the bolt slower.

thank you. i figured it was on here somewhere but just didnt wanna read 63 pages to find it. oh, i havnt touched the trigger or spring so not that, tho didnt do it at first

Page 58 I posted what I did to mine with some pics and it fixed it. You can also engage and disengage the safety after cocking.
