Wood mold

I got some outside porch and pavillion exposed wood and this has happened over this winter.
Whats a guy to do?
I asked around to local stain guys and I get the "I ve never seen that before "
Is there a cleaner/killer that I can spray and then stain the wood darker maybe?

We use bleach and a stiff bristle brush to clean mildew or anything that looks like mold. Let it dry after and refinish as desired.

Yup bleach will kill it. You can also use tha various mold killing bathroom products..

Thanks ,I kind thought bleach was best and probably cheapest too.
Is there a stain that prevents it from happening again, or a stain to avoid?
I have been staying away from polyurethane due to flaking and peeling problems.

You will not believe what this product will do, just spray it on and watch.

you can get it in small amounts at Lowes, Home depot, Amazon and the like. I recommend the Pro version.

The RMR 86 works amazing but it does not have a long shelf life. About 6-months to a year it will weaken the in the jug. Ask me how I know.

Bleach works...but that RMR is better IME

I have tried both. With bleach it took a lot of scrubbing. With RMR 86 Pro, spray it and prepare to be amazed. When I saw it on youtube after trying the bleach, I said "BS". Then sent the company an email thanking them for a great product.

Bleach only kills mold on nonporus surfaces.

If it's a porus surface (like wood) physical removal of whatever the mold is growing on is really the only way to completely remove it.

Mold remediation really is an entire skill/trade/industry of it's own.

But, being outside... I'd probably just put on a respirator and scrape/sand it off.
