Wolf attack on Swedish hunting dog

That is amazing. Just a hunch but I think that nice thick heavy collar on his neck probably helped a bunch! I cannot say for a certainty, but the dog really looks like it's a Norwegian Elkhound. They use them for hunting moose, sled dogs, guard dogs, and the Vikings used them as a war dog. I've had two and they are wonderful animals and are tough as bulls. They only weigh about 45-55 pounds, but are very well built and blocky.

WOW!

It might also have been a Karelian or some other nordic breed??

I have had a 135 lb akita. Fast, agile, could run forever and strong as shit. Was scary when he would fight another dog (people w dogs off leash jeopardize the safety of their dog and yours). But I shudder to think what would happen if 2 wolves had attacked him. Heck, even a couple of coyotes that know how to hunt together can take down much bigger prey, given the time to do so.

Wonder what the guy was doing w his dog off leash, w a GoPro, in an area that is probably known to have wolves roaming around.

Awesome footage, I translated the comment page, the dog had a vest on to protect him from wolf attacks and it obviously worked, man they were sure tag teaming and wearing the dog down. I din't see anything that stated what kind of dog it was.
