Since I’m going in a race on May 5th, I thought I would run a simulated race today. I still ran 60 minutes minutes continuous, but I was noting times and distances. My 5 kilometre time was 27 minutes, 15 seconds. This gave me a time of 5 minutes and 27 seconds per kilometre.

Then my second 5 kilometres timed at 5 minutes and 3 seconds per kilometre. So I was faster in my second 5k than the first. I did my regular speeding up at the 48 minute mark and continued right to 60 minutes like usual.

I must say that my times and speeds surprised me. In 2007 when I retired from the military, I was running around 4 and a half minute kilometres. That was 17 years ago! At 61 years old, I didn’t think I would be close to 5 minute kilometres. I’m excited for the race!

Being old is just a number. Not a state of mind.
