Anyone actually asked @OregonHunter13 what the deal is? Or is this a case of "let he without no real life, cast the first meme?"
I have spoken to him, several times. What "deal" are you referring to? It's as if some of you want him to actually respond to the daily inquisition?

This thread went from a very generous gesture from this great community, to some good laughs, and now my integrity is being questioned? It was funny, until it wasn't.

Speaking only for myself, I’m not questioning your integrity. My memes and posts are making fun of myself - and needling OH13 for ghosting this thread apart from an early “thank you” post. It would be cool to hear from him - how his hunt went, what he purchased with the bread we collected with the virtual passed hat, etc.

Just want to chime in on a couple things. Yes there’s a lot of unanswered questions however there’s also plausible answers for them so let’s not go too far with any comments or memes that might degrade anyones reputation. Friendly jabs are fine but there was a couple that could have been taken the wrong way. And now, back to our regularly scheduled meme show.

If you're feeling criticized by me, I think you've mistaken my point... namely that life gets in the way of silly little things like social media. I see a lot of memes acting like the Rokslide forum got scammed, and I was just asking if anyone actually contacted the beneficiary to see how his hunt went.

He stopped by less than 3 hours ago with not a “hi” or “thanks”?

I’m gonna quote Fitzy from the movie the departed…

“Where’s your boy?!”

Hey all sorry for the delayed response and long post. I got back late last night from my hunting trip. My archery California deer hunt while unsuccessful taught me a lot. It was my first real long extended backpack hunt by myself and I was wondering how I would fair mentally. After many trials and tribulations which included my phone breaking after a dip in the creek which wiped out my mapping. I finally got on a stalk on a small forked horn Blacktail on day three. Which after getting to 102 yds was spooked by my rangefinder swinging on the lanyard into my bow riser. That was a bit frustrating considering it was only the second deer I had seen in three days. But after a long hike back to camp and moving camp to another basin and much more glassing I got another opportunity on day 5 with a small three point which resulted in a 78 yd opportunity which I must say 78 yds on day 5 made the deer look pretty close but I set a limit of 60 yds for myself and saw there was a small tree in between us which I ranged at 30 yds cutting my shot if it made it to the tree to 48 yds which was totally in my range. After crab walking my way 15 of those yds keeping the tree covering the buck my good strong thermals were shattered by a gust of wind that blew down the canyon and the deer stood up for probably a second and I stood up to draw and he saw me and ran over the ridge. That made me feel really dejected because not only had I messed up my opportunity In my panic to get in close I took my boots off prematurely at probably 200 yds in some small shrubs and to add to my frustration I couldn’t find my boots. Which led to an hour of walking in circles parting bushes. After I located my boots I made it back to camp right at dark and woke up on day 6 feeling a bit rough mentally, I was ready to hear people and physically my feet were getting blisters on my heels. So I decided after a couple hours in the morning with fruitless glassing I packed up camp and made the 8.6 mile trek out. But I wasn’t completely done. After hiking out and stopping at a dollar general and spending way to much money on everything that looked good. I went to a truck stop and had a long shower then proceeded to hunt from the car for two more days which led to nothing but does and two spikes being seen. I then went home for the day and washed all my clothes and Resupplied then I was off to the southern Oregon coast to try my luck at hunting elk which I had never done on the coast. After talking to the biologist and learning that all the private timberland was closed besides one company that allowed access but only by buying a permit which were all sold. I consulted my onX and decided to hunt the blm and national forest surrounding the private. After seeing nothing on opener I moved to a different section and yesterday I had my first elk encounter of the season with a spike and 5 cows which were down below me in the thick brush after hanging out for a minute or two at 46 yds with an arrow knocked and my right leg shaking uncontrollably which I have never had a problem with. Then i assume the wind switched because they blew out at a dead sprint. I then spent the remainder of the day wandering around cow calling with no other encounters. Although I didn’t get a shot at an animal these past days i feel like I learned a lot and had lots of close encounters i also learned that especially if I had a working phone with downloaded podcasts i could make it a full week solo in the backcountry. My season is far from over still with archery elk still open and a rifle steens Mtn deer tag in October I still have lots of opportunities left. Sorry for the long post but you all deserve an explanation for my absence these past days. And for the reason why it showed I logged on at 5 I logged in at work today but my internet connection wasn’t good enough to post and i wanted to take my time thanking you all for the support.

Thank you all, Have a great Season,
Brady
