With the ever increasing price of a North American Sheep hunt, where are the best values internationally?

So what's the deal with Azerbaijan? They shut down during the pandemic and decided to never reopen?

We need a really good realignment of cost of goods and services around the world......like a real severe, lasting global recession to realign everyone's expectations of value. It's getting ridiculous and few people could find an argument about that. It's unsustainable.

I agree but it is not happening. People keep on spending. Discretional spending is at an all time high. The average American is content with massive debt for car, credit card, student loans. Median 401k is somewhere around $156k and the same person who complains about how expensive their groceries are, stands in line for 4 hours to get the newest iPhone before all there instagram friends/followers. American priorities are shifted everyone wants more.

I can comfortably spend ~$10,000/year on a a guided/international hunt for the foreseeable future. $20,000 would be pushing it but doable every 3-4 years for something special.

These $50,000+ hunts are out of the question.

I’m guessing more and more North American hunters will opt for an internstional sheep hunt instead of hunting one of the domestics.

Even guys that might already have a half slam today must be looking at the prices to complete the their slam and seriously consider Asia.

Assuming you don’t have any of the NA sheep today, completing the slam using outfitters would cost what, $200,000 US minimum?

Stone hunts are $85-$135k
Dall hunts are $40-$50
Desert BH are $55-$70
Rocky BH are $80-$100 (and 25% success rates / Cali BH are $140-$150

So assuming you got it done in one try on all 4, you are looking at anywhere from $260k to $405k depending on who you go with. The higher cost hunts have better genetics/trophy quality in the area or are a sure thing (Cali BH hunts are 3 day hunts)

So $320-450 for a slam. 4 dead sheep for $450,000.

Yep, no thank you.

Guys are getting 2nd mortgages to shoot a Dall. Talk about priorities I don't have.

I can afford about $20,000 worth of hunting. a year. None of those hunts are on my radar. I'd rather do 2 or 3 good hunts that 1 hunt and get skunked.

So upwards of half a million Canada to complete the slam.

I definitely envy the guys that can accomplish that today but it is out of range for 95% of us.

I could hunt every year for the next 30-40 years on that kind of budget, with international adventure hunts thrown into the mix.

Marco Polo are $35,000-55,000 but probably another $10,000 to be sure.

Blue sheep are $25,000 and combos with Tahr are $35,000

Not sure what Pakistan is getting for their sheep and goats. They were in the 20,000 range.

Russian sheep hunts are in the $25,000-35,000 range

Iran is not an interest at all

Mongolia Argalis are $90,000-150,000

Persian ibex in Turkey are $25,000 for good areas and $18,000 for the regular areas

Mongolian ibex are $15-18,000

Tajikistan, Krygiz, and Kazakhstan ibex are $12,000-18,000 actual door to door price

Tur are closed.

Chamois are $2500-20,000 depending on the species

I believe that blue sheep number is light, last I asked it was about 40k in Nepal. Not sure if Pakistan is that much less
