I would prefer a green .19 fiber optic to the red one that Williams offers. Has anyone successfully removed the red one and installed a green one? Any do’s or don’ts?

Williams also offers a different globe that allows more light in for the fiber optic. Has anyone simply drilled some holes in the original? My guess is you’d probably want to apply some paint to prevent rusting. Curious on your guys’ thoughts.

The ported globe is better for fiber optics. Yes, I’ve read about guys drilling holes in them to allow more light.

As for the red or green question, what are you asking? Taking the red fiber .019 out and replacing with a green fiber instead of just buying the new green insert?

One mod I really like is removing the excess metal from the insert retaining bushing so that it blocks less or your view.

Changin a fiber is easy.
I think you can buy it on midway
You just get the length closed and melt it into a bead .

But where is your info on it being .19 because the ones I’ve measured are all .40

Also green shows up better in low light.
But green blows out in bright light.

So it’s pick your poison

Wow now I feel like an idiot. I went to Williams website to double check that they didn’t sell a green .019 version and didn’t realize you just had to scroll through the drop down option to select it. I guess that solves that.

Sweet tip on removing the bushing material.

Williams website has .019 and .029 options listed.

For my particular setup I’m running an Fp legend rear peep.

Wondering about there warning of only working with the western rear peep.

Guess I should call them, get the sight height and check.

I’m trying different ones. At 100 I’m pretty much dead on and 10 clicks gets me pretty close at 200. Usually eldX

That is SLICK!

Do you have a pic of the whole setup? Is the front sight held on with one screw at the very end?

You just chuck that in a lathe and turn down the outside?

To see the front and rear sight together maybe the whole rifle. And understand how the front sight is attached to the barrel.
The Williams globe is single screw thru the middle.

To get it different you would have to go Lyman with a dove tail ramp and it may end up too tall.

It’s a real conundrum that I guess there isn’t enough money for these companies to come out with a legit front sight.
