.........for Pokemon on your scouting trips this summer? Haha.

Actually I am a little curious if anyone sets up stops or gyms in the backcountry. That would be a little funny to be hunting and have your phone notify you there is a Pokemon nearby. What will a person go after? A picachu or whatever they are, or an elk.......

I've put it on my phone because I was curious. I'll play it a little for a week or so but not much of a gamer for anything. My buddy is comparing it to geocaching for nerds and he's pretty much right. It gets them out.

Think of it this way....how many people would be in front of a tv playing video games that are out WALKING around now. I know the developers are making money on it, but they are kind of doing public service getting people out.

Man, I have to say its really sad to see all these people jumping on the pokeman wagon. Its amazing, if these folks would focus their energy on whats going on in this world instead of facebook and pokeman we would probably be way better off. Nintendos market share is up like 40% since their release, they now have more users than twitter and people are playing at least 45 minutes a day which is more time than spent on facebook...hate to be a party pooper but its discouraging to me...

I'm not playing in the backcountry but I have to agree with the OP that it is a good thing. It's getting the younger generation outdoors and more social. It's a shame that it requires a video game but the end result is a good thing.

I'll be the first nerd to admit I play the game, though not as religiously as some I have seen. However, when it comes time to hunt, or do anything outdoors, I put my phone away unless an emergency, or photo ops.

yeah if my hunting area ever gets cell service I think I will find a new hunting area (I plan to anyway)...not interested in getting calls from work and the wife, I do plan on a delorme so she can text in emergencies (right now i just have a spot) its probably the thing I enjoy the most about being out there is being disconnected from all the BS. But who knows maybe Pokeman works off line I haven't tried it.

you know its getting out of hand when AZ has to post this on their highways...I swear I saw at least 3 wrecks almost happen this week around Austin because people were looking down at their phones

I just don't get it.
I work on a college campus and spend my lunch break in a park in the middle of campus watching the fish and turtles and growth of the mallard broods. I noticed about a week ago that suddenly everybody is looking at their phone all the time as they walk around campus. My friend who is of that generation told me what was going on. I don't understand..........
Yeah, it might get people outside or some exercise, etc, but only to be glued to their mobile device. Stay inside. Don't be a hazard to yourself or people around you.
If I die of a mishap, I'd much rather it involved beer and dynamite than because I wasn't paying attention to my surroundings while I was looking at a video game. Neither is likely because I don't play video games or have a source for dynamite, but I'd love for these folks to become more aware of what's going on around them.

I just drove by a billboard advertising a "GrassMap" app. Gotta know where the nearest pot shop is and, of course, directions to get there.

Millennials can't even get stoned without an app
