Wildcat composites tikka stock

I think that WildCat has run into some issues with insurance and selling to the USA... I saw something on his Facebook page awhile ago.
See post #12. I spoke to him about it. Still selling to US, for now. Issue is the wait time on ATF Form.

I talked to them 2 weeks ago and they said they aren’t any more
I just called Stuart...you are correct. Although he hasn't stopped all together, he's just on a pause in shipping to US while he finds a new insurance company that will allow him to export. US customers have gained a reputation for filing lawsuits over anything and everything and he can't find an insurance company that will risk paying for cross border litigation.

Might be worth double checking the barrel channel. It's somewhat oversize to allow room for bedding, but I dont' know that it will fit a real thick carbon barrel. Might work with the trimmer carbon layups, but free floating a full contour one would be dubious.

Otherwise, it should check all of your boxes.
It won’t fit a carbon or sendero contour barrel but he is working on a new stock mold for that in the tikka with a vertical grip. He is estimating it will come in 24-28oz.

He shipped mine 5 days ago. It's still in the mail, but it's in the US and past CBP.

I didn't see this thread and was going to make an order, but he's definitely not taking US orders at this juncture anyways

Damnit. What’s the Rok-consensus as the next best?

There was mention of a custom stock maker (in Oregon maybe) that was making a similar 18oz stock. Price was almost double if I recall correctly. I couldn't find the post in the search, but it was fairly recent in one of the Tikka threads.

For $400, I don't think you can beat the wildcat. I'd maybe give him a few more months to find insurance, if you're not in a hurry.

Yeah, no rush. Was hoping to get a lightweight build together this year. But certainly can sit tight.

Might look towards a chassis for another rifle while wildcat sorts out the international sales.

Going on my 4 season with my wildcat stock, if your thinking about building a lightweight build and can hold out waiting till they ship to the states again I would highly advise it. Mine finished just shy of 20.6oz, stock was very slick with original finish I put on it, ended up redoing it with sponge diping layers which gave the stock a lot better grip

Did you do the sponge dip only in the trigger area?

I'm waiting patiently for them to ship again. I hope they will soon.

A flat color base with a webbing spray on top is plenty grippy on the wildcat, as another option.

I found the forearm to be the slickest with only a flat black coat on it, which was a problem when hunting coastal blacktail up here in BC. If you hunt areas with wetter climate, definitely make sure the stock is textured
