I’m curious as to how people are liking the tikka t3 stock made by wildcat composites out of Canada. I’ve seen some older threads on here, but I’d to see how they’re doing after some serious use. Anyone cerekoting them? Looking to get one ordered here soon for my next 7 RM build due to how lightweight and inexpensive they are.

Mine was one of his first, and it has a couple seasons on it now. Probably 6-7 hunts and a fair amount of range work in that time. All good.

I would recommend a pebble type finish or similar. The raw gel coat is pretty slick and needs something to give it grip.

I will say that it's really only inexpensive if you have the know-how to finish it yourself. If you need to pay a gunsmith for bedding and paint, it's going to be as expensive as anything. It might still be the lightest though.

Thanks for the feedback. I plan on having the grip area textured then a buddy of mine who does cerekote will hook me up with a good price on that. And I will bed it myself, so in the end I think it’ll be a good balance of quality, inexpensive, and light weight. I’ve got a carbon six barrel and the way and an action ready for it all. Hopefully it’ll be done soon!

Might be worth double checking the barrel channel. It's somewhat oversize to allow room for bedding, but I dont' know that it will fit a real thick carbon barrel. Might work with the trimmer carbon layups, but free floating a full contour one would be dubious.

Otherwise, it should check all of your boxes.

Last season was my first with the wildcat and I like it a lot. I also did the finish myself, its a 6.5 Swede, so opted to put a flip flop pad on. My krylon paint job isn’t holding up the best, easy fix, but scratches off easy.
I found cutting couple inches off the barrel and fluting helped the balance a bit, it did seem a bit front heavy with the wildcat.

Iirc, the stock finished at 19oz. 9FEF6812-D955-40D8-B34D-D385A1C021ED.jpeg

Bumping this up...have an email in to Stuart with one final question on his order form. Just talked to my smith he mentioned the last fella that ordered a wildcat had to fill out import paperwork with the DOL? I'm not up on trade politics and not sure what year that was, but have not seen that mentioned in multiple threads on this stocks.

Can anyone clarify that? Any paperwork required with your wildcat?

I put one that I bought off here on tikka T3x Compact, it was beaded alreally ... and whoever's did about a nice a job as you can do.
Anyway the stock is pretty sweet, light weight and seems sturdy. Has really good hand feel as well.
I hope my dad likes the rifle when it's all done

I have one that I put on my Tikka briefly, ended up putting a chassis on and converted it to a match rifle.
I'd sell it if someone's looking for one

I just had one finished and it turned out far better than I expected. 20.5 oz bedded which is a 10 oz weight savings. Really good float on barrel, stiff and well balanced. If you are from US I would advise getting one sooner rather than later as they may not be able to sell to US customers anymore due to insurance.

To close the loop on my quesrion. I talked to Stuart at Wildcat...what a great guy to chat with, for one. He did mention insurance may soon be unattainable, hit for now he's still in business and exporting to US. He's got a good ammount of Tikka orders, so get an order in asap if you want a stock soon.

For the import, you will need to complete and send him an approved ATF Form 6 in order to keep your stock from being seized at the border.
He has an approved/redacted version for reference if you need help with the Form 6.

I called and talked to the guy at wildcat a while ago and he was really a good guy to talk to. At the time, he was not offering a Tikka stock with a carbon fiber barrel profile maybe he has changed that now. If you are keeping the factory barrel they seem like a well thought out and sturdy lightweight product.

Curious, but whats the point of a carbon barrel in a super lightweight stock? For a proof anyhow, it's heavier at 24" than the factory tikka fluted 24".

Skinny little thing, heats up quick, but my proof walked all over the paper when it got hot too

Seems the wildcat is the only tikka stock out there that will save weight over the factory plastic. The Mesa is finishing out at 29-30 oz or so for most folks, no where close to tmwhat they advertise.

Got my t3x superlight 7mag into the wildcat I bought used. Stock was 21oz with paint, pad, lug and pillars

For those counting oz...Overall, 5.56lbs bare, and 7.1oz as pictured (emtpy).

T3x in 7 mag
Cerakoted barreled action
Lumey ti bolt handle, carbon fiber bolt knob, ti recoil lug, alum pillars and yodave spring
Full bed
Hawkins low tikka rings and a 4-16x44 zeiss

All said and done its a sub $1500 bare rifle. Pretty happy. Really like the feel of the wildcat.
Range report to follow

I'm curious as to your descision to fully bed vs float the barrel. I'm debating that now myself.

Did not bed the full length of the stock, sorry for the mixup. I've always thought a full bed job was pillar and glass bed, as opppsed to just skim or pillar only. I dont do my own bedding, so I really just take my smiths word for it.

I think that WildCat has run into some issues with insurance and selling to the USA... I saw something on his Facebook page awhile ago.
