Has anyone used these with hiking boots in the mountains? I know he recommends wearing them against the skin but I’m wondering whether these might be a good way to add a bit of insulation to my hiking boots by wearing them over my darn tough socks.

Anyone have experience using them this way? I have enough room in my boots that I’m not concerned about restricting circulation

I use Wiggys lamilite socks. They are great. Just remember they are synthetic insulation, so the more you compress the insulation the less insulation effect you get. They compress down to nothing for storeage and dry faster than regular socks. I use two differant sizes to wear together when I need to. For example size 10 and 11, wear the 11 over the 10 works great.

How’s the fit? I wear a 10.5 boot so do you think an 11 would fit over a darn tough sock? Any issues with your foot slipping? They look like they would Be prone to slide around

I wear ultra thin polypropylene liner socks with them. Regular socks hold moisture which make your feet cold, (that's the reason Jerry says not to wear socks with them) especially with Gore-Tex boots. I would try 11s and 12s. I have not had a problem with sock slipping around in boots.

I tried some out. They are pretty thick - I would probably need a larger size boot to make them work. They also just didn't fit my feet well. Not having stretch to them makes it where they'd only really fit a certain kind of foot. I'm not a big guy, but I have sort of thick calves - the 13" socks would not work on my calves.

I'm disappointed - I like the concept and hoped they'd work as advertised. I could definitely see them working for some people, though.
