I'm new to suppressors and have to say, after trying mine on ar15's in 5.56 and 6.5 grendel, I'm pretty underwhelmed. They are still too loud for me to shoot comfortably without hearing protection.
Maybe I'm more sensitive than others, and because of that I've always used earpro even from early days (61 years old now). A lifetime of shooting, riding and racing motorcycles and flying planes and my hearing is still fine, but I wear protection for all those activities. Lots of loud music, but apparently not enough to be a problem.
Anyway, I'm missing something because while my AB Suppressors A-10 does make some difference, it's not the huge difference so many seem to feel is there, certainly not enough that I'll be shooting without ear protection. I'm on the fence about getting bolt rifles threaded because I'm not convinced it's worth the weight and increased length or reduced velocity if I cut the barrel.
My primary use for it is on the 6.5 grendel for night hog hunting with multiple targets. At this point, that likely will be my only use for it. I do notice zero flash with the suppressor which is great.( I run no muzzle device on any of my rifles, except now this suppressor.)
