Why is the hornady ballistic app giving me incorrect MOA adjustments

Rifle is a tikka 6.5 creedmoor cut to 18" shooting eld-x at roughly 2500 fps. At 300y, the drop is a little over 16" and the app is telling me to come up 6.69 MOA, which just isn't correct. Cross checking with the Swarovski ballistic program, which I like because it's very simple to use, the real adjustment is 5.25 MOA. I double checked all the inputs in the app, why is it making such a significant error?

And for what it's worth,I'm out shooting right now using the Swarovski program and I'm hitting steel at 475 yards, so I have faith that the numbers I'm getting from them are accurate

I've had issues with the Hornady app before that I was never able to identify...checked every setting, every input, everything against Sig BDX and it was still off. Sig was correct at 800 yards...Seen several threads about it as well where it was never figured out.

Change velocity until it matches and go with it…

It is frustrating, it causes hand wringing and stressing when ballistic modeling software is off. Our expectation is that they all should work.

It’s actually complex to model bullet flight. The beauty is that tweaking inputs can relatively quickly match reality. Often, there is something the user is missing. Sometimes it does need tweaking.

If you are 100% certain you did the inputs right, start with velocity and see how far off it is.

Several threads about this app… our group of four shooters have all had issues and none of us use it anymore

I had issues with mine at 200 being a tenth of a mil low. Put the data into AB and it showed the correct come up.

I never could identify what the issue was. I tried just about everything.

Just tried this and found a velocity that matched drop at 200 but not at 300 . . . odd.

100y does say 0 elevation adjustment. Think I'll just use a different app

does it tell you the holdover in inches and is that matching what it says in moa (adjusted of course)?

the bc input matches the g1 or g7?

Well I decided to check the BC and reselected the eld-x and for some reason that fixed it, I'm now getting the correct elevation adjustments but the settings are the same, I didn't change anything. Just went to the ammo library and picked the same choice as before

I couldn’t figure out what I was doing wrong I have used the 4DOF Hornady app it was giving me 1MIL more adjustment at 505yards 6.5CM 147Eldm

StrelokPro and others have been dead on out to 600

What others? Whats the best free app?
I’m very far from an expert on these I’ve used StrelokPro, applied ballistics, general calculator through Hornady app (BC calculator)
When I referenced “others” that probably made it sound like an extensive list, thats not how I meant that to sound
