Why has shipping become so frustrating.

I'm been ordering alot of parts/supplies lately. Clearly shipping is pretty slow right now. Maybe because of the storms, maybe for whatever reasons....

I have some small handgun parts that that I paid for Fedex 2 day shipping on. Over a week ago. Fedex tracking showed that its supposedly been sitting in a facility about 6hrs away from me by truck for 4 days, with a delivery date of yesterday, as of this morning. I just checked on it again.

Now its apparently 2/3rd across the country and never arrived near me?!?!?

As best as I can tell in 7 days my two 2 shipping package has traveled 500 miles in the wrong direction......

Should I just make another order and choose UPS instead??? Its a cheap order, just a couple springs, I paid triple the cost in shipping to get them here before the weekend to get the pistol back together and start testing the ammo I'm loading lol.

First world problems I guess, but man does stuff like this get annoying.

95% of it is the weather most likely, this week shut down large parts of the east and midwest.

BUT this stuff is always changing. Fedex ground and fedex air recently merged, and as a result they are less than well organized right now. At work we ship inbound and outbound with fedex and are definitely seeing really varied performance, and extremely poor communication, etc. just remember, we dropped UPS for fedex for problems. Neither of them is perfect. At some point we’ll probably get fed up and switch back to ups.

I'm currently 12 days into waiting on a package coming to Missouri from Florida via USPS, with no progress after it departed the post office. It looks like I'll be filing a missing mail claim. It's probably sitting somewhere amongst a huge pile of mail that backed up due to the weather. Thankfully, it isn't something that I needed right away.

I have a set of lawn mower wheels that were suppose to be here from Amazom a week ago. They're web site says they've been sitting in one of there facilities, 20 miles away, since Sunday. WTF?

The high prices of shipping always piss me off too! Amazon can get your package to you the same day for free and the other carriers want an excessive amount of money for shipping.

Amazon is WHY the other carriers want more for shipping - and nothing is free. They have negotiated bargain basement rates due to 'volume' and let the walk-up folks pay the differential.

Amazon does this for other things too, like Aubible. Do not get me started on the net effect of their Allocation Factor and what it does to royalties.

Yes, you’re correct, NOTHING is free. I always say the same thing. I was mostly using that as a reference for my post.

I mailed a walnut stock blank from Oregon to South Carolina on January 16th. Tracking said it would arrive on the 21st. Guess how far it made it as if today....Eugene. I spent $65 to just be frustrated. Yep there was a storm but it was supposed to be delivered before the storm hit.

18 to get days to go 82 miles!!!

It’s not just shipping. Everything is broken. Nothing works like it should anymore snd everything is getting worse. Wish Jesus would come back already.

I sent a Howa Mini, barreled action to Montana to be cerakoted. It was sent back USPS, on Jan 16, made it to Newark NJ on the 27th. Tracking hasnt been updated since then.

Fedex is a joke and has been for a long time. 2day is not a real thing to them anymore and you won't win a dispute.

UPS and USPS are better with UPS being the standard. I won't do business with Fedex and won't do business with those who use Fedex unless it is unavoidable.

yeah.....I just looked again. It says that my stuff did make it to Portland OR, and hung out for a few days, and then Evidently that was too close to Spokane WA, so it deterred to Mississippi.......Thankfully it arrived in MS, so maybe it will eventually head west again....

I know we are in a bit of a unique situation up in Alaska, but starting about a year ago anything that shipped USPS ground advantage takes 3+ weeks to get here. Bad before... worse now.

I can't say that I have seen anything shipped 2 day air (fe3dex or UPS) actually arrive in 2 days... usually around 4.

Really the only timely and reliable shipping we have is with Amazon when they use their own delivery system.

As mentioned above, it might be due to wokeness, but I suspect the problem is a bit more nuanced than that.

There is a concerted effort to destroy the USPS. The venture capitalists and competing businesses would love to see it fail so that they have the opportunity to take over its privatized functions. It’s a real shame, because it used to be really good and it is one of the few parts of the Government required by the Constitution. The venture capitalists combine with the small government types to try to get rid of one of the only useful parts of the government. I’m a small government guy, but I think the post office would be about the last place I would cut.

I’m currently dealing with a package that was supposed to go from Charlottesville to Richmond (about an hour apart). It was dropped off on the 28th and supposed to be delivered the 29th. As of this morning, it’s at Dulles being sorted. It went two hours north, to sit there for several days, with no delivery in sight.

I have three orders inbound right now. One Fedex is out for delivery, one Fedex is due tomorrow (both from east of the Mississippi), and USPS end of the week. I got a Fedex 2-day package last week that was shipped on Wed and delivered on Friday. I've also shipped out 4 items the last couple weeks. All have arrived so far as expected. One is due later this week. Hopefully I won't experience any shipping gremlins now that I post this.

In my experience its very common for Fedex to ship stuff to their main hubs regardless of that hub being half way across the country the wrong way.

Consider watching tracking a form of entertainment.
