Why does everyone chop their barrels to an even number length?

I've been following along on a bunch of threads about guys chopping barrels down on their rifles (Tikka 6CM and other threads).

Lots of talk about guys chopping them to 16", 18", 20" etc...

Plenty of guys who are undecided and trying to decide between chopping it to 18" or 20", for example.

My question is, why not chop it to 19" in that example? I never see talk about barrels cut to an odd length?

I'm showing my novice-ness here, as I've never had a barrel cut down on one of my rifles. Always just hunted with them as they came off the shelf. However, I'll be buying a Tikka 6CM once I can get my hands on one, and plan to chop the barrel down to a shorter length, and suppress it.

I just want to make sure the bullets aren't going to bounce off of animals if my barrel is an odd length

I had a 338 win mag cut to 21". It shot great . Cut your barrel to whatever length you want

I usually cut them at some odd number like 19 and 7/16

Human nature tends to stop at even numbers as apposed to odd. Odd is odd to the subconscious.

I have a 300 Win Mag that's cut to 23". Handles better than 24", less velocity loss than 22". It sounded better in my head when I did it than now as I type it.

I don’t know why, but I have to do odd numbers. I have a 260ai at 23” and a 300wm at 25” . I suspect it’s just my ocd

I have a 16.5, 17, 18, 19, 20, 20.5 and 21. Mostly depends on the suppressor I want to run and desired overall length. I do prefer 18" plus for most cartridges and 20" for magnums.

I got a 21’ 25 saw and 23’ 260 on my nrl guns 25’ 6 dasher on my PRs rifle. I just like odd stuff though

A lot of WSMs had 23in barrels from the factory. I have a rifle with a 23 inch barrel. My smith said the diameter at that point was the right size to thread and match his favorite muzzle break to if I ever wanted one…

Most of mine are 16.5. I have one cut to 17.

I had a smith ask a bunch f questions when I asked for either 5/8-24 with a shoulder bushing or 9/16-24. Acted like anything other than 1/2-28 with an adapter was crazy. I found someone else to work on my stuff.
