Who’s ready to go pink?

Yeah, stick to orange if you are more concerned with safety than inclusivity. To a lot of people with red/green color problems, like mentioned above, it comes off basically as grey. Unless you’re just checking the box, stick to orange.

I would think chartreuse would be a better option than pink. Having some degree of red-green color-blindness, I find orange and yellow easier to pickup against a gray/tan background than I see pink.

I agree. I am also colorblind, and I can't see pink nearly as well as I can see orange, and chartreuse/yellow is better than either of those for me.

My daughter has a pink .22 and she was asking about a pink vest this year. It's tough enough finding a decent orange vest for an 8 year old let alone a pink one. Both my girls are into Barbie dolls, pink stuff and girly things so if pink hunting things is what they want I don't have a problem with it.
Edit to add: just read some more on the pink and it looks like several states allow it and some think it'll help recruit females into the sport. I highly doubt this but I'm sure most women would choose pink if given the choice. If recruiting women is on the agenda of these departments then they should offer discounted fees for women and girls. 🤷‍♂️

I don't recall the numbers, but it's somewhat common for men to have a red-green deficiency in our visual spectrum.

Also, I think the notion that pink gets girls hunting is retarded.

I randomly switched to flo yellow nocks yesterday and wowie are those 100000x easier to see in flight compared to my pink and orange ones.

I liked having pink on because the days we knew other hunters would be around, wearing pink let my dad know it was me from a mile out and not "another" hunter encroaching/being encroached on. I think flo yellow would be great to add as accepted for the same reason.

My 12 year old daughter wears blaze pink. She’d gladly wear orange but she likes pink, so pink it is. It’s very visible and what’s wrong with some options? If it helps add a little interest to girls and women I’m cool with it.

Brag alert:

Based upon the responses in this thread, it seems as though some people only know not to shoot something if it is blaze orange, and I have also learned that by wearing pink I could possibly keep fellow hunters away from my spot/camp/etc. because they'd assume I'm one of "those" people.

I don't touch anything pink, and I WILL not touch any purse. My wife once asked me to bring her purse to her, I kicked across the floor.

Are you suggesting people with color blindness might fail to identify a target or practice basic firearms safety?

My suggestion is not limited to those with color blindness
You are right, orange should not be required at all, because people should be responsible. But, they are not, and so, it is. Again, if you are wearing a color because the regs say you have to, by all means pick whichever one you want. If you are doing so because you are interested in safety, stick with orange.

Why is this even a topic for discussion? Blaze orang has been the only choice for many, many years, so why change now, is this part of the woke movement or what.?

I don’t think it’s part of the woke movement. When Colorado started to allow pink inclusivity was part of the reason. But it really stemmed from having another option. There’s a lot better chance that women can find a proper fitting functional piece in pink as opposed to orange and might even have something in the closet already.

Also, I don’t think it’s necessary for us to try to tie in the woke movement as much as we have been across the forum. A genuine question or something based off facts is fine, but we are just throwing it out there to throw it out there more often than not.

A lot of butt hurt guys in here. No one is saying you have to wear it. It is just another good option visually. I know a couple women that wear it that used to wear blaze orange without a complaint.

Bunch of cry baby tough guys in here.

As someone who is color blind AF, wear pink. I can see pink against yellow/tan grass far better than I can see orange.

Not sure how I successfully multi-quoted  (though out of order) but I'll take the W ...

VERY interested to hear the different reactions here ... I posted about pink and chartreuse above. Turns out everybody's different ... Who'da thunk it?

I say: Add a color to the safety rainbow. Pink is an excellent choice.

It was a mistake, in my opinion, to tempt people to believe that if it wasn't orange, it was fair game.

I was discussing this with my fiance last night and we had a good laugh at a bunch of tough guy hunters posted up in the woods wearing...

Very true. There are three primary types of color blindness (7 if you really get in the weeds). And each person has a different degree there of.
