I was all shickled titless thinking Trumps new EO included the Hilux... Come to find out I dont think it does... So which one of you is gonna turn a KEI truck into the greatest huntin rig ever?

In canada these are popular. You can get highway use out of them where you cannot take a sxs out for a rip down a highway. Cheaper than sxs as well.

I mean, I feel like they would be more durable then a sxs. I gotta figure out what size motor is in them. But I’m not sure how capable it would be really off road. Old logging paths with logs still down in the mulch. My atv struggles at times.

I’d take one antelope hunting. Makes the buck look bigger! lol

It would be great to see more of these.

I use one for hunting. They work pretty well, but I think an enclosed sxs is a better choice. I like everything about mine except the suspension sucks! I should have bought my neighbors sxs a few weeks ago(already sold), then I probably would put tracks on my mini.

See, I don’t live out west where people are doing fast runs with their atv and side by sides. I hunt regularly a 1000 acre piece and going to add to it soon.
It’s slow going, trails, mostly trails you could get a compact truck down. But there are some sections my new Polaris 570 sportsman struggles. With steepness and ditches. I’d feel if I spent the money on a mini truck and even lifted w bigger tires, I may still have issues in those areas.

After reading a little bit more about these, I don’t see the attraction other than maintenance crews for large properties of the super rich, golf courses, or mega warehouses, short distance transport for landscapers, a city run around grocery getter, or other smooth surface uses. They are cute.

I used to drive one a lot in the early 2000s working at a greenhouse/nursery. They were good for hauling stuff around the property but couldn't imagine true off road with one. They have little to no suspension and are very tippy. They are still cool though and I want one for no particular reason. I could see the appeal on a manicured whitetail property or something similar.

I was hoping for a Suzuki Jimny. From my understanding one of the main reasons these smaller vehicles are not brought to the US, is they will not pass current crash test ratings compared to our larger vehicles. It’s not just an emission regulation thing.

Guess we will see.

What changed?
That import after 25 years stuff. I don't know the exact details but he lifted some of the "chicken Tax" regulations that have blocked this in the past. Some of the verbiage were things like "economical" "efficient" stuff like that. I specifically named KEI and i recall him saying something about built and sold in the US. Again i didn't read the entire thing. Not sure if Hilux and Landover are considered in this but I hope so.
