I had a Muley get up just as I started to touch his eye with my barrel. Had to shoot him again before he dove off a steep embankment.

Folks can learn from others before them, or reinvent every wheel. Reinventing every wheel is a harder way to live. Our grand dads poked eyes, as did their grand dads, and their grand dads. :)

Yes, but then about any PH worth his salt will still check the eye after getting close.
Yes, couldn’t help but notice the Cape buffalo got lots of extra rocks thrown, poking, kicks, etc. before being pronounced dead.

The duiker, on the other hand, just walked up and grabbed him.

I primarily hunt whitetail living in Georgia and don’t worry about them too much, but the bear I just shot with my bow I made especially sure it was dead haha

I had a muley blink at me and go racing away when I was about 10 feet away. Had to shoot it again...

Just seems strange to walk up to something I shot and it is still alive.

Never did until after the time I dropped a deer, started to work gutting, got about 6 inches into opening him up when he decided he was getting up. Scared the crap outa me but was able to grab my gun and get another round in him just as he got his feet under him. I always poke now.
