Who has gotten the flu recently?

Well, I did everything I could to keep from getting sick, but in the end, I failed!

Been a couple weeks now and it's still holding on to my lungs a bit...

Anyone else get the flu/influenza?

Dodged it fortunately this year, (up to now) felt like someone had set about me with a baseball bat last time I had it.

Aron I just got over it. One of the worst experiences for me. I was out for six days even with Tamiflu with the worst symptoms I have ever had. Doctor told me I tested positive for Influenza A type. He said the flu is really bad this year. I had the flu shot but it looks like it wasn't the right strain. Just like you I am still coughing up crap though. Was told I was not contagious after getting rid of the fever. Can't express how much it sucked!

This was first time in a long time that it kept me in bed for multiple days. Also still have a cough a week later. Worst part was having to watch kids having to battle though it.

Yep. I normally don't get sick but sure hate it when the kids get it. My youngest has battled a cough off and on for the past few months, but no flu here yet.

My mom called me last week telling me to go get a flu shot. She works in a hospital and said they've had a few people in their 20s and 30s die from it this year. Normally the very young or very old are the most at risk with the flu, but it looks like this year's virus seems like it is affecting all ages and is particularly nasty. So far I've dodged the bullet too and from what I'm hearing I'm glad I have!

I got hit with something Saturday night, I had a bad headache which I never get went to bed about 9:00. Woke up early on Sunday to go shed hunting, called my buddy to tell I couldn't make it. It felt like I got run over by a truck, this morning I feel a lot better still not 100%. I think I got the 24 hour flu not good.

I had it just before X-Mas and it lasted for almost 3 weeks. Seems like in the Denver area it is lingering for 2-3 weeks for most folks...

My wife had it bad. Worse she has been sick in years. I started to show symptoms and started taking "Airborn" OTC and I dodged the bullet. Seemed to work for me and I recommend giving it a try.

Dang it, you got the SHOT flu? Last year I was layed up at home for 3 days after getting back from shot! Get better man!

Last time I had the flu was when the swine flu went around. The wife and I both got it while on Kodiak, all the bear hunters coming to the island brought it with them and many on the Island got sick. Confined places like planes, airports and hotels are incubators for the flu and other airborne diseases. My wife has had it twice this year already. I have received the flu shot every year for the last 30 or so years and I have come to believe that they help for sure, me at least.

HAHA I hear ya. I procrastinated about getting mine for a couple months finally got it last month. My wife is a nurse as well. But now if I get the flu she can't say I told ya so.

There are some gnarly ones out there. I'm still coughing stuff up.

My Wife is an ICU nurse. A good percentage of the young people who have died from it locally got the flu shot...so getting the shot is no guarantee.

It appears they may have been a little off on their "best guess" of what strain would be going around when they compounded the flu shot this Season.

My family may just be fortunate- but all of us (6) rarely get sick and we have never got the flu shot. But there are probably more than one reason why that is ( not getting sick).

When I was young- seems like I always got sick; and I had a Mother who was one who believed there was a medicine for every thing. Now I just about never ever take anything- and am thankfully rarely sick.

My whole house got it a month ago. Started with my wife (she's a 2nd grade teacher) then went to my 14 yo daughter, 7 year old son, then me, then my 12 yo boy. No one had it at the same time and we haven't gotten flu shots this year. Started with fever, vomiting out both ends and coughing. Each case lasted 72 hours. Good times.
