Which rimfire rifle should I buy?

I’m looking to pick up a 22lr to practice and shoot more as my old marlins seen better days.

I currently have a cz457 in 17 hmr and I love that little gun. On the centerfire side, like everyone else here I am a tikka snob. I run Xlr chassis’s on my centerfire rifle so I will likely put whichever one in a chassis similar to the Xlr to keep things consistent and probably rebarrel it at some point because I’m incapable of leaving things like that alone.

So that brings me to my choices - cz457 varmint (20 in barrel, not the Mtr) or the t1x?

As big of a T3X fan as I am, I prefer the 457 for my rimfire.

Both have plenty of aftermarket support, so you could do either and be fine.

My Bergara B14R shoots pretty good for a $1000 or so factory gun. Shooters being equal it won't compete with the RimX's that end up costing 2 to 3 times that, but it's worth the money. My bro in law has one and a CZ; he prefers the CZ.

The t1x is a nice gun, no reason not to get one, I wish I still had mine. I got a tacsol which is nice and easily as accurate as my t1x was but being semi auto I dosent seem to deal with the sub sonics quite as well. Cz 457s are really nice too. If the t1x took a Ruger magazine and was stainless it would be about perfect, along that line of reasoning you might be able to find a stainless 77/22.

Of your choices, I'd go T1x...

That being said, most rimfires feel like toys to me due to the small actions, etc. I bought a bergara B14R a year ago since it's a full size short action. I installed the same triggertech that most of my other rifles use, as well as the same Manners stock. It's very cheap practice.

The T1x is a great rifle though. My brother has one in 22lr and it's impressive for the price.

I made the jump from RPRR to CZ455 to Vudoo really quick. I still own the CZ455 and we love that rifle, but I shoot the Vudoo 99% of the time as I'm a lefty and that's what I had made.

I’m training my 6 year old up on a t1x. I’ve been impressed. It’s great how he can confidently run the action on it.

Just built him a t3x and I tell you it feels identical. There is something to be said about running the same practice and full power rig. If that’s an option I’d lean whichever way that takes you.

I personally don't think you can go wrong with either the CZ or the Tikka. Part of me seeks to like the CZs more, maybe it's just because I prefer their factory stocks more? But if you are planning on swapping the stock some day then it doesn't really matter.

I do like the Tikka mags a bit more though
