Been tinkering with my 300 win mag.

Which bullet to go with for elk between zero and 700.

These are all four shot groups.

200 LRX - BC of .546
Estimated MV of 2900
122719

212 ELDX - B/C .673
EST MV 2875
(No idea why I have a flier ????)
122720

200 grain accubond - BC .588
Estimated MV 2925
122721

I'd use the accubond in case you end up with a short range shot. The eld-x is a great long range bullet but is pretty explosive close range, it's a cup and core unbounded bullet that expands great at long range.

Another accubond guy here, but those are all solid groups most guys would be proud of. LRX would be my 2nd choice, nothing against the Hornady. I am a believer in tried and proved bullets.

Me too, that 200 gr accubond is my favorite for my 300 win and will be going with me as well. Mine is over 72.5 gr rl 22 though.

now take the 3rd target back to the range and put 7 more rounds of the same load downrange so you know at least what "part" of your average accuracy is

Thanks for the input. I’m gonna load 50 accubonds; set the zero and start shooting some groups at 200 and 600 to true it up.

I liked the ELX but worry about the problems with close shots. Opposite problem with the Barnes.

I know the accubonds work when they hit flesh.

I have never had a problem with ELD-X from 100 yards to 600. They may ruin more meat than some but kill the animal ethically and quickly, which means the most to me. Have had good luck with Accubonds at longer ranges.
