Bog Death Grip, your thoughts?

I have one I use for night hunting predators. Handy to leave your rifle on it while you’re doing other things with your hands.
I’d never pack one hunting big game unless I was acting as a guide for my wife or kids. I have the carbon one and it’s still heavy and bulky

They’re awesome for the money. My dad and I shot three elk off one before the world decided everyone needed ARCA rails.

I’d buy another in a heartbeat. You just have to be OK not having the latest gear at 4X+ the price. They’ll do a heckuva lot, as long as you recognize their limitations, the worst being the weight itself.

Seriously, I get that there are better options. But a plain original bogpod is genuinely light years better than shooting sticks or whatever you’ve been using. It’s all a matter of perspective. And if you get the carbon version there’s every chance the 4lbs(?) won’t seem a bother to you. I’ll continue to bring my 8lb original for my kids on certain hunts.

So the consensus seems to be, maybe a good price, but the head is heavy so change it out.

I used one set up in a stand with night vision for hogs. Worked well in that stationary situation.

It's not a Backcountry tripod. It's great for what it is, a heavy stout universal setup that works with any rifle. I set one up at camp on the deck and anybody can slap their rifle on it and blast hogs from the deck. The extra weight is a bonus for average people standing and shooting or even seated. Of course carrying it for miles you'll notice the weight. I took one on a bike hunt last year and it was really nice to have. When I carried it I carried by hand, folded up, and didn't put it in my pack and it wasn't a big deal but there also wasn't a lot of elevation involved.

Is the Death Grip head semi-permanently attached or does it also have a threaded stud for optics/cameras? If not, can it be easily converted?

The Bog will do just fine for you. For the price it’s a steal. I’ve killed many animals with mine. Oh, and I never even changed the head lol. I will say it is definitely heavy, so if you are looking to pack it you may want to look at something lighter.
Could you buy something more expensive that may be better…..probably. Could you kill as many predators as your heart desires with a bog pod……absolutely.
