If I were buying a new full-size 1/2 ton today, it would be the F150. I have actually been thinking a lot about getting one lately, so I can park my dually and only use it for heavy towing and the camper.

2019 Ram 1500 bighorn, I didn’t have any trouble with my last one so I’m giving the new body style a run. I test drove the ram, an F150, trail boss, and a tundra. The tundra had plenty of power but by far the cheapest interior and I didn’t care for the Silverado at all. It came down to the ram and an F150 for me, I was able to get a better deal on the ram. I’m in my truck a lot and the interior and comfort are also high on my list.

Seems to be a driving style thing from my experience. Engine braking, extended oil change intervals, and lots of idling have been the 3 biggest factors I've noticed.
Thanks. None of those things describes my driving. 90% highway driving. Oil change at 5K intervals.

I've got a '17 Silverado and it's a piece of garbage. The transmission blew up at 104k. Just got that sorted out after rebuilding and doing some rewiring. It eats batteries. And now the engine is starting to tick.

Perhaps I’ve just been lucky but I had a 2003 gold Silverado with the small back seat and a camper shell. I replaced it at 130k with a 2013 gold silverado with the small back seat and matching camper shell sitting at 127k right now.

Literally neither went to the shop a single time. Just a little preventative from the house and I am far from handy with a wrench. With no commute due to covid work from home, I won’t need to buy a 2023 but I wouldn’t hesitate to go round three.

2021 Tundra. Love everything about it...except for the milage...which I knew going in. 9-11 MPG while towing...but know plenty of people with other half tons that are in the same boat when towing. 14-16 MPG not towing, which is OK. I usually only ever drive the truck to pull our boat, which is 90% of the time. The rest of the time I drive my little 4 banger that gets 40 mpg.
21 tundra. Only bad thing has been some odd limp mode thing when I chainC3A13694-39EF-4E89-901D-69DB88506672.jpegy the rear up. I had to chain up anyway to get to the next turnaround, so I kept going.

To the people with Fords, are you actually using them as a truck or 95% highway driving? Only asking because every Ford I've owned has been a pile of crap. I've had a 97 f150, 07 crown vic, 10 expedition and 13 explorer. All major problems under 100k. No disrespect to the Ford following. Currently looking for a new half ton.

2016 F150 with the 5.0. Going on my 3rd year with it and 102k miles, 60k of my own.

Was always a GM guy until I drove my grandpa's 2009 F150. It rode so damn nice compared to my 03 chevy, I made it a point to test drive a newer Ford. Low and behold, I found this truck that I just loved how it looked and went and drove it. I really liked it and within a couple days of trying to decide between it and a 2018, someone else had stopped in and said they'd buy it in a few days. Well the dealer kept his word for them folks, only for them to come back and decide not to buy it so he called me and said it was still available. It was meant to be I guess.

I've had it to Colorado and Wyoming a few times on several two tracks I swore I should've had a rock crawler or SXS. So far it's been regular maintenance and a set of tires and brakes. Love this truck.

22k on a 22 dodge rebel. Coming from an 04 dodge Cummins. I was stunned at how zippy it is. Pulls a canam defender and all the gear just fine. Was told it would get 21 highway, haven’t seen that yet. Gets 16 around town.

'21 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 3.0 diesel. It's been worked the first few years pretty hard, no issues.

It took me months of searching but I found a 4x4 2018 f150 5.0L Crew cab with the 6.5 foot bed. Specifically for hunting trips and it work out well on my last elk trip from south Louisiana. My wife dented the front bumper unfortunately but made up for it by helping me pack out an elk a few days later.

2013 Toyota Tundra with the 4.6. I've rode it hard and put it away wet. The only parts I've replaced are the alternator and air injection pumps. 196K on the clock. 20220929_105043.jpg

A 98 gmc followed by a 2005 gmc followed by 2011 gmc that I owned for ten years(loved that truck). Never a major problem with any of em, and only a few minor issues. Last year I picked up a 22 Chevy trail boss.
