Labradar pros
-groups and velocity same time
Labradar cons
-sucks at a busy range.
many of us use a labradar in competetion and dont have trouble, even with 50 rifles on the line all shooting at once. no add on triggers allowed.

i would not necessarily advise getting the LR right away. it is a lot of bucks to invest if you dont know how much you will use it.

my first chrono was a timer with 2 optical sensors. it gave a time in a display that you had to convert to velocity. the next one was a chrony [which i still have] the chrony will still do anything needed but..... you are not using it in competition. it is a pain to set up, even if your alone. and if others are shooting you have to get them to stop to set it up and hope they dont shoot it. if engaging multiple targets at different ranges it is not ideal. and then you have the lighting problems.

the best way to set up a chrony that i have found is to pull the bolt and insert a laser in place of the bolt. the laser will shine down the barrel enough to let you find where the bullet will go on a card [ so you dont shoot your chrony]

if you will use it a lot, such as set it up every time you shoot, the LR if the only choice.

Get your rifle set up on the bench, the difference between the bore center and the scope center, let's say, is one and a half inches. Set the chronograph so the center of the target is 2/3 of the way up the chronograph shooting area. That's what I've used for decades.

matt makes a pretty nice base for the LR. it packs in the soft case with the battery attached.

matt and i split the cost of a LR when they first came out and it was not long until we knew we each needed one, so i bought him out and he got his own.

If you use the remote trigger it will only record your shots. No matter how many people are shooting around you.

I need one of those. I only have the microphone or now and normally shoot a suppressor.

In that case just get the Labradar and be done.

My labradar rides in a hard case with everything I need. That little battery will keep this thing armed for at least 8 hours.

I use a Labradar with external trigger and external battery pack and red scope for alignment.
It works great.
With that said I ordered it and it took a few months to arrive so I used my Caldwell chron. It surprisingly is on par , speed wise with LR.

Even when measuring arrow speeds it was within a FPS.

Problem with LR is now I see they are not taking Back orders at this time.
So that option may be off the table.

I'd say get something learn the process and go from there. Adjust as needed for you, down the road.
Reloading is like anything else, try and use what fits you and your needs. Change as you want, when you want.
ITS JUST $$$$$$$$$$$

I have had a caldwell for a while now, its finicky unless there's good cloud cover. The Shades also get blown off often unless I move it a ways down range. Ive been trying to find a Labradar in stock, but cant seen to find one.

I currently have a Magnetospeed and hate it. I’m thinking about a LR. Can any of you tell me what a remote trigger is? Where can you buy these battery packs?

I bought the LabRadar for use with the variety of options that we need: rifles, handguns, archery, etc.

I’ve had to buy a few extras over time, and likely could use a couple more (recoil trigger could be real nice to have), but I think it is well worth every penny.

I also bought an Apache case from Harbor Freight to keep it safe. I also believe that minor cost (especially after a coupon!) was certainly worth the cost. Everything I need all in one quick to grab package.

I purchased the Magnetospeed Sporter and I’m a fan. Over the past few months I’ve invested some serious cash in a reloading setup so an extra $600 for a chrono just wasn’t an option. Plus, I really like the fact that I don’t have to wait for cease fire at the range to get my data…

For all you Labradar fans can you help me figure out why my friends is so shitty? We shoot at his personal range with no interference. The thing is insanely finicky and is a PITA to setup. Most shots it’s doesn’t record the FPS, like it isn’t picking up the bullet passing. My magneto speed never has issue other than POI.

Magneto speed sporter is all you need. I shoot 5-10 through it just to verify/check speed and then pull it off. I can’t ever see a need for anything more. Yes it changes POI, I just shoot at a berm while I’m checking for speed anyways.
