Which caliber to add?

Alright, first “real” post, finally in need of some advice.

I’m struggling on what caliber to add or replace. I currently have a Tikka 6.5 CM, Tikka m695 270, and Tikka m695 .300 win. The older tikkas haven’t gotten much use since picking up the 6.5.

My wife gave the go ahead to get a new rifle with the condition that it is one she can shoot easily. The 6.5 is suppressed and a compact model so it would work for her and our 10 year old.

I have settled on getting a .223 no matter what, but here’s the bigger question. Do I set my current 6.5 up for my wife, kid, smaller frame people and the .223 for me plus another gun? Or do I set the .223 up for smaller people and keep shooting the 6.5 myself? I could chop and thread my existing .270 or sell it or the .300 and pick up another 6.5CM or PRC? I would like to be able shoot lots with the .223 without much hassle as well. I suppose could pick up an extra stock and swap back and forth. The m695s are great shooters, just don’t have the ability to modify or replace the stock like the T3s. I would be willing to part with the 270 and 300 because I just don’t see them getting used that much anymore. Whatever I end up with will be suppressed and wear an SWFA

If you can only buy one, I would set up the .223 for the kids and get a slip on pad to add the 1-1.5” of LOP back for when you shoot it.

If only one .223 is in the cards for you, consider the T3x Lite Compact.. comes with a spacer to change LOP between 12.5" and 13.5"... As my kids grow into centerfire, I plan to share it with them until I get tired of taking the screws in and out of the buttpad. At that point I'll be looking at another .223, like the good advice above.

If you dont feel like messing with the screws over and over, a slip on pad is not a bad idea.

It's hard to beat a fat Barrel 223 for fun shooting. If you reload you can get bulk spitzer point boat tell bullets for a similar price as FMJ and use all the same ammunition at the FMJ price. I bought a Savage and it shoots incredibly well. As long as you get the twist that you need there are a number of good bolt guns out there in 223.

There were production intent models in the field months ago… However, only in the ACE line. I’m wondering if enough folks like me mentioned that waiting until the standards T3Xs were ready would be ideal? Not sure.

Guess they haven’t gotten the message that 6 creed is more than a target round…
