Butler Creek for me for 20 years or more as well. Never an issue. In what situations do they break for those that have had bad experiences? I've only heard they are cheap and break, but not how they broke. Agree they can let a bit of moisture in, however that's in the extreme in my experience and not as a general rule. Been taping the muzzle for 30 or more years, easy peasy solution.
Bushwacking broke the objective off, the pin has fallen out as well

When they come open on their own after hitting a small twig and then snap off after coming in contact with something else. Over the years, I’ve gone through dozens of Butler Creek caps. They couldn’t possibly be made any cheaper.
