What's your standby Whitetail hunting knife?

A buck 110 has been my standby, but mine has been lost for a few years now. Just using what will get me by until I decide to buy another. I did receive essentially a carbon copy of a 110 when my grandpa passed made by taco that has potential to be used at some point.

MKC is a short ride down the road from me, and have used numerous models from them. They are all well made and high quality.

I use a Buck Alpha Hunter folding knife with a gut hook for field dressing. I’m not skinning and cutting up whitetails in the woods. I do that back at camp. There I use a Victorinox Sheep skinner for skinning and curved boning knife for just about everything else. I could easily use my Buck alpha for all tasks and have in the past. Not a back country hunter these days.

Try not to feel too bad about losing one. That’s how I ended up with two. I misplaced the first one in a pouch pocket; for about five years thinking I lost it. Felt bad, bought another, then found the first. Point is, for some of us , getting attached to a Buck knife
🔪 is easy. Go buy a nice one and enjoy.

I use an ESEE 3" for skinning and quartering. It's heavier then needed, but I prefer the weight in hand vs a lightweight knife.

The cheap stainless Mora knives are hard to beat. I grind the top of the blade for a little more drop. A spare knife weighs less than most sharpeners.

I like my outdoor edge swing blade. It’s no MKC but it has always worked!

The Kershaw Folding Field knife is my favorite. It holds a great edge year after year and does an excellent job breaking the pelvic arch.

MKC sharptailed is what I used last year and I was quite happy with it, its small but nearly ideal.

My dad bought me a blackfoot shortly before he passed this spring so will most likely carry that this fall, actually with likely have both on me...
