I just threw a lighter scope on my Kimber Montana .300 wsm and will take it to the range tomorrow to see how it does with 165’s. Current wt. is 6.5 lbs. empty.

The old Kimber Montana, .300wsm continues to put ‘em in there, and at 6.5 lbs., I can live with that. Here’s 5 rounds shot about 10 seconds apart, and just under a 3/4” group.

How's the recoil on that guy? I have a Model 70 in .300 WSM that kicks pretty stoutly, and is a full pound heavier

Not bad at all but I also have a brake on it. A few years ago I decided to put a brake on it so my 12 year old son could use it on his goat hunt. Even prior to the brake the recoil wasn't super bad, but my son was a smaller 12 year old and I just didn't want him to develop any bad habits, if at all possible.

T3 lite in 300WM, BC stock, fluted bolt, brake, talley rings, and 6-18 leupy was 7.5 lbs on the nose. Kicks like a field mouse and carries perfect. Makes it hard to buy new bolt guns (luckily good sense never stops me).

My Remington Model Seven SS 7 SAUM is 8.5 lbs with sling and 8 rounds in the buttstock ammo sleeve. I've never once thought it was heavy while hunting.

My other Remington Model Seven SS rifles are in 7-08 and 308. Both weigh 7 lbs 4 oz. One has a McMillan edge filled stock and the other has a B&C stock.
