I would say a median weight would be about 7.5 lbs. give or take a lb. A remmy LSS 416A stainless with walnut stock hits the scales at 6.5 without scope.

A remmy 700 SPS compact with 20" bbl in 7mm-08 is only 7 lbs

As for scopes
A Leupold 3x9x40 is about 12 oz, the 2x7x33 is 10.5 oz. The VXII Ultralight in 3x9x33 is only 8.8 oz and $250.

My semi Custom Rem 700 BDL 300 Win Mag weighs 9 3/4 lbs with sling. It's sporting a Bartlein 26" #3 5R
barrel, HS Precision stock and a Leupold VX3 4.5x14x40 CDS scope on it.
I'm not sure if the OP bought a new gun or not?
How about truing that Rem action and having a top shelf custom barrel/ brake installed?
That gun would shoot better than any off the shelf gun you could buy.

I was the OP and yes I ended up with a Sako A7 stainless in .270win. Started with swfa 3x9hd and was having issues with brass hitting the windage turret and falling back into the action when cycling. Tried all of the tricks to change ejection angle to no avail. It now sports a vx5hd 3-15 in badger ordinance rings, with no ejection issues. Weight is just under 9.5lb and shoots better than I can. Now I need another rifle to mount the swfa on 🤦🏻‍♂️

Looks like the pat sinclair special there. Nice rifle.

You got it, he helped me with almost every aspect of the rifle/scope combo. Now working with a 139 Scenar load he started me with.

I am still a novice to this long range thing, and it is guys like Pat who really shine through by helping others.

Sounds like you’re wanting a push feed, 2 position safety, but if CRF/3 position safety works for you, any of the magnum caliber Kimber Montana’s can be had for under a grand, if you shop around. After throwing another couple hundred at my .300wsm Montana, it comes in at 5.65 lbs. naked, and shoots lights out.

here's the one I've been working on

Kimber Hunter .308- barrel shortened to 19" (from 22"), Ti bolt handle and all sound deadening material removed from the rear of the stock. Started at exactly 5 lbs 7 oz, now 4 lbs 11.2 oz.

I have a Leupold 2-7x33 VXR and Talley Lightweights that will be going on soon, should be under 6 lbs

Rifle is now in the successful category. Took a elk at 373 yards (hold over on 200 yard zero) with 172 grain eld-x.

Looking forward to tinkering with it this winter.

Been looking at ways to lighten my load. My current rifle is a rem 700 sendero in 300wm, weighing in at about 12lbs unloaded. Tossing around the idea of a new rifle, mainly only considering a tikka or savage in their respective lightweight models. But if there are other options under $1k I’m all ears.
I lugged a .300 Rum Sendero around Montana and Wyoming 12,000 ft elevation for years until I hit 50 I finally splurged and bought a .300 Rum Fierce CT Edge 6 lbs and maybe pound and half scope. Amazing difference wished I had done it sooner.

couple ideas as I have done the self punishment of going up and down this road...mostly because its fun to tinker lol

1st I have found budget rifles shoot just as good as more expensive rifles in hunting distances 100-400 yards of me shooting, lets say 1k purchase price and down

I got a tikka lite stainless down to 6.5 lbs unloaded, but scoped and with sling

I then bought another factory stock, put a kydex cheek rest, vertical grip on it and then used Rockite to get it almost exactly at 8lbs (using rockite you can pretty much choose what rifle weight you want)

Now with one rifle I can have the benefits of a heavier rifle...or change stocks and have a lightweight version

next project was a 300wm....I got a smoking deal on a Remington 783.....action bed it with water rated jb weld, used rockite again to get it right at 10lbs scoped with muzzle break and sling

the best part was the 300wm shooting 180gn bullets has way less recoil then my 18" 308 shooting 165gn bullets it actually had me giggling like a little girl LOL

I have since purchase a break for the 308...I expect it to be a sweet hunting rifle as it will be 8lbs braked, with scope and kydex cheek rest, and barrel length will only be around 20" once the break is on.

The rockite is a soft expanding concrete.....if you want to remove weight just drill a hole in the stuff you already have in there

I lugged my Sendero .300 ultra mag around for years, great rifle just too heavy. I switched last year to a Fierce CT Edge .300 Rum has carbon barrel and titanium action and brake. It is sweet as hell, very light doesn’t kick at all and perfect trigger. Also shoots lights out a reloadWes dream. Rifle is 6 lbs and 26 in barrel. You can look at their site for specs.
