I'm running a tl-3 as well. Sitting in a manners cf eh-1, 24'' cf proof barrel, apa rings, apa brake, leupold mark 5 5-25 scope. weighs in at 10lbs 9oz. I wouldn't want a lighter rifle. I was real close to buying the mpa hybrid chassis.View attachment 101537
Bighorn TL3 built on a MPA BA light chassis. 6.5 CM. It’s changed a bit since this pic. Upgraded to a proof barrel to lighten the load. Swapped Hybrid for an Omega.
I’ve got it down to 12lbs loaded with bipod, suppressor. I know some guys would scoff at lugging that around the mountains... but the way it shoots it’s worth it. Heavy rifles are much easier to shoot, and I’m out their to shoot something after all. Too me 10-12 lbs is the perfect balance of shoot ability, portability, and accuracy potential.
That's a beautiful rig! What cartridge? How's the recoil?7#6oz

Compact with a full size stock or cut the barrel?
Figured I’d add these pictures. All rifles have Spartan bipod adapters and weight is obviously including the bipod. Pretty much covers the budget realm from $300 .308 ruger American, $1600 hobbit rifle build (7mm-08), and $3k+ custom 30.06.
Can’t carry more than one at a time, but sure wish I could!
Thy ruger dollar for dollar really is a shooter! Was going to put a thread on carbon wrapped barrel on it, but it shoot so we’ll with the factory one I’d be a moron to mess with it!

Who made the contender barrel, was thinking of doing the same, have the stock, forend and receiver just no barrel.
I'm working on copying @SLDMTN to, just waiting on the barrel at the moment. Going to put the Spartan Gunsmith adapter in the forend though. The ruger is the stock American compact how it came.
The T/C encore barrel is made by MGM.
Check out this thread for all the good stuff thanks to @SLDMTN :
The Hobbit Rifle
I've had a ton of interest in the gun I put together for my kids and I. Rather than addressing the same questions repetitively I decided to start a thread on it. My brother-in-law and I put two of these together a little over a year ago with great success. We wanted a gun with an adjustable LOP...www.rokslide.com

Been looking at ways to lighten my load. My current rifle is a rem 700 sendero in 300wm, weighing in at about 12lbs unloaded. Tossing around the idea of a new rifle, mainly only considering a tikka or savage in their respective lightweight models. But if there are other options under $1k I’m all ears.
