I should of stated that I personally hate pooping in the woods myself!! haha

And I understand the purpose of the bell on a hobbled animal, however its still annoying to hear that damn bell from 2 miles off from sun up to sun down. And when you're six miles in on foot you don't just pick up and move drainages in that country. It's public land so you have to just deal with such things no matter the annoyance.

Ya you never want to rely on catching fish, eating berries, knocking down a grouse or ptarmigan, eating backstraps, etc. For the piece of mind, I always pack food a little on the heavy side. A couple extra meals in the pack is good insurance. I knocked a 2 person mountain house on the ground 2 years ago. If we hadn't packed extra, would've been picking through the pine needles and grit for our dinner.

1) Pooping when it's freezing out.
2) Getting out of a perfectly warm and comfortable sleeping bag in the morning

Or in the middle of the night to pee. It's better to bite the bullet and do it, but I usually stay awake far too long thinking the urge will go away. It's just tough to leave a warm sleeping bag.

I sometimes find it aggravating that I will otherwise pack a minimal camp, but still manage to bring 2+ lbs of electronics. Rangefinder, GPS, sat phone, camera... Seems a little much at times, even though I use it all.

Being one with a dumb (non-smart phone) I especially appreciate the fact that this post in particular was "Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 2"

Yeah... I noticed that too, and the irony was not lost. Actually the iphone has been on several hunts this year, and has some kill photos on it. Back up camera, maps, GPS, etc. Doesn't mean I don't wish I could leave the whole lot at home sometimes though!

Just don't mix it up with the gatorade bottles you're using for your extra water.

We have these at work, never used them. Hell you wouldn't have to get out of your sleeping bag.

i like peeing and pooping in the woods. means i am still hydrated and all body function as a go.

i have buddies that freaking piss orange juice, and lock up intestines. they have headaches, hike slow, beotch and moan alot.. and when the need arises..they have to stay "Crouched" way too long. i love watching them hobble back on frozen knees and feet that have fallen asleep.

powdered fiber is your best friend..and drink lots. haha.

Putting that one thing aside I just have to remember to take while I am pitching that stuff I can do without and then forgetting it...tough getting old - but it beats the alternative.

oh, another pet peeve.

when going light, i really wish i could pack my small Wetterlings hatchet. i really want to use it for some butchering, but that 1.5lbs is tough to debate when i want to go super light.
