Will buy a pref point for CO and WY. Plan on doing OTC in CO like last year however if I don't find elk/sign within my given time allotment it'll become a scouting trip vs a hunting trip. (like last year)
Hope to get drawn in New Mexico this year. Building points in Wyoming and I have no real plan for them there other than keep building for a bit. I'm thinking I need to be building in a couple other states. I don't think it is worth the wait in AZ but I could be wrong. It just seem like I would build points my entire life and never draw a tag. Or If I drew a late Tag it would be no better than other states tags. I could be wrong as I haven't studied AZ as much o's other states lately.
Drive cross country for my first elk hunt (Western CO, bow). It is a high mountain guided hunt but hope to learn a lot and plan on it being my first and last guided hunt but not my first and last elk hunt (DYI for future hunts). Thanks to all for everything I've learned and continue to learn on this site.
P.S. Oh, then hopefully have a great season chasing whitetails again here in VA. I'm afraid it may be a big let down after hunting elk in the Rockies.
Well after three months living in Id my brother wants to start elk hunting. I think a co-worker gave him some backstrap. Now he stops off at the pawn shop once a week and asks me, "what about this rifle." I guess I'm saving a week of vacation for Id gun season this year . Works for me as I love seeing /hunting new country.
Applied in AZ all ready. Have slim chance at drawing, but a chance.
Applied in WY all ready, should draw!
Applied in MT all ready, have roughly 33% chance of drawing but will get General tag if I do not draw LE hunt.
Buy CO point and hunt otc in same unit I killed last year (if I have time).
Apply in Nevada and New Mexico as well but have slim chances at drawing.
Good thing I don't hunt elk as much as I do deer or I would not have any time to work.
