Whats your favorite headlamp?

I've been really happy with the fenix HM50R .. Uses rechargeable mini lithium batteries, but you can use a CR123 as a backup.

Bumping this back up. I’ve been using Sofirn for at least 4-5 years and any of the 25 series headlamps are great. I haven’t had an issue.

Can’t leave good alone so looking to see if they can be improved. Looks like possibly a Fenix HM 62-T? Not sure about light but it is more waterproof and lockable.

Ideally I would find something the same or lighter than Sofirn 25 series, could adjust to see further, lockable, more waterproof sounds good but hasn’t been an issue.

I typically don’t use red but do have a couple of the red and white combos.

Other option is using a flashlight when I need to see farther than the Sofirn for night pack outs in new areas and terrain. I’ve had 2 regrettable suffer fest pack outs in this time. Likely could have made much easier route choices could I see further. SOG M29 has my interest as a combo battery pack always on me and distance light. Not my primary battery pack but one that is always with me.

I'm a fan of 18650 headlamps with high CRI white outputs. Been a Sofirn H25LR user for several years, ArmyTek prior to that. Recently purchased a Fenix HM62-T and am looking forward to seeing how it stacks up. Chiefly, looking forward to trying the BOA adjustable headband (vs. elastic headbands on all the rest), but the lockout and increased ingress protection over the Sofirn are points in its favor as well.

I have both Fenix HM62-t and Peax. I wanted to like the Fenix more but the boa and elastic band drive me crazy. There is very little stretch to the band so you have to adjust the boa every time you put it on with a different hood or hat. And then taking out the battery to charge is another downside I think when you in bad weather camping. The Peax headlamp hits all the marks even with the basic elastic band. It does stretch out over time and just loose but I still like the easy stretch over any head diameter.

I've been using the Coast FL75 for at least 5 years. Much improved over the Energizer/Walmart cheapies I used prior. Usually around $35, has a twist focus beam to select from wide to spotlight, and separate switches for red vs. white light. Suites my needs, always have a spare set of batteries in my pack but I think they make a rechargeable version now too.

I have a lot of seat time with the HM50R, and it has been super reliable. It checks off all the boxes for me except one: When using it to get to my stand in the early AM, the red light isn't bright enough. It works but needs to be brighter. For the money, it's still going to be hard to beat.
