Nice public land deer. I live real close to a public marsh in east central WI. Only pheasant hunt it, but have jumped a couple of very big bucks while doing so through the years. Spend my time deer hunting in the northern Big Woods, which has been very tough for the past decade. Haven't bothered putting cams out for a few years. Probably should spend more time hunting deer close to home, but still love to roam the large tracts of public land "up north".I've killed bigger down home, but up North with work, hunting small patches of public land, 7 or 800 acres worth in this spot and 1200acres and change up the road, so feel fortunate enough to have my eye on this big 8. Looks like he's bladed a bit on that back tine, with a sticker off that right eye guard. Got a little character, and not bad for a heavily hunted public land spot in southern Wisconsin.
In 4 days it'll be 6 months ago I got out of the intensive care ward, spent a month in ICU, and Noone was sure I'd make it. I feel extremely blessed to have 1 more season to do what I love, and out my heart and absolute best into it. It's 15 days til bow opener. This season has alot of extra meaning to me!!!! It's pokey stick time dangit!!
This is a Walworth County buck, if your near, welcome. Got a first year bird dog pup to run this year too!! Good hunting my friend.Nice public land deer. Good luck to all out there.
I'm a little north in Calumet county. There's actually a few pretty good sized public marshes and a state forest hereabouts, but I've never deer hunted any of them. As mentioned, I try to head up north for as much of the fall as I can, and I also try to do as much Western big game hunting as I can fit in. Would likely be much better served by deer hunting around home, but still love being up north. This is a Walworth County buck, if your near, welcome. He looks nice, character in that rack. I'm headed out the door in a few for my last scout trip, then time to let em settle.Checked cameras today for the last time before season starts. Big boy is showing a little more often but not in daylight. Another decent size buck showed up to on different camera.

I grew up in Manitowoc County, have a pretty good idea which places you’re talking about. I was/am fortunate to have access to plenty of private land, but have hunted a good chunk of the public pieces around the area. They get busy on weekends, particularly when you start adding in waterfowl and pheasant hunters. During the week it was pretty quiet though.I'm a little north in Calumet county.
