What’s the most valuable thing you’ve lost?

A pair of brand-new Black Diamond Alpine Carbon Cork trekking poles with Quick Stix attached. I had leaned them up against my truck after being in the woods for 4-5 days and then just drove off without them.

The worst I've seen was I found a pair of Leica rangefinding binos (a pro and a 3200) in Kuiu bino harnesses along the Snake River from a pair that had been hunting there for a week. Luckily, I was able to stash them and get them back to them through the jet boat outfitter. That would have been a $4000-5000 loss.

Leica 8x20 BC taken from my car.
A Buck Mayo TNT S30V came out of my pocket while snowblowing. Now they're around $1000😩.
My house in 1998 (economic recession).
An auto repair business & another house in 2012.
But life is like a marathon: just keep on running.

I lost a thumb release while hunting last year- not nearly as bad as some of the others on here but I’m sure my time is coming!

I flipped my raft 2 years ago on a whitewater section of a canyon float. Orvis rod and Lamson reel took the Big Swim. My grandfather bought me the rod when I was 12, so it was a nostalgic loss more than anything

I was in a horse wreck last weekend. I lost my Binos, my pistol, water bottle and a Bang Energy drink. After much searching I found everything except my energy drink, thank God, because I was really freaking out about losing my Mavens.

Binos out of my harness. Pistol out of a zippered HPG chest rig. Water bottle and drink out of saddle bags.

Didja catch the horse?
Caught the horse and the mule I was leading without issue, a few hundred yards up the trail.

This was taken about 30 seconds before the rodeo. We actually almost got it on camera.

Pretty sure I lost my mind years ago as I continually put myself through agony on backcountry hunts every year

Then again if you asked my wife she'd say my mind wasn't worth much anyway

A buddy borrowed my boat and sunk it. Loaded with all my fishing gear. Insurance paid but the sentimental value was much more. Also lost a benchmade, I was absolutely convinced a guy stole it. It showed up a couple years later when I cleaned out a truck I sold.

I've lost a few multi tools and a few OTF knives. Maybe a total of 5-$600. Best thing I ever left behind on a hunt was about 26 pounds.

I haven't read the whole thread so don't know if it's been said already but the most valuable thing I've lost is probably my mind.

Looks like its going to be my Vortex Viper 10X42's which I recently sent to a guy on here who refuses to send me his Vortex Viper 12X50's which we agreed to swap for. Been over a week that he has had mine and he says he is too busy to ship them out. The nearest post office to 1028 N Wenatchee Ave, Wenatchee, WA is the US Post Office at 1050 Maple St, Wenatchee, WA 98801. It is located about 0.4 miles (a 7-minute walk) away. Hmmm! A 7 minute walk from where I sent my pair of binoculars.

not cool

Had my passport pickpocketed in Dakar, Senegal while walking down the street. I knew it was gone in a second, but those guys are slick. The fellow who took it almost immediately passed it off to an accomplice, who probably passed it off to another accomplice a few seconds later. I didn't care about the $30 or so I had in the wallet, but I had spent the previous two weeks securing visas for three other African countries, expecting to leave the next day. Helpful Marine at the US Embassy got me to the right folks to replace the passport. It was full of visas from extended travels. In reality, a small sentimental loss, but it still stings.
