What’s the minimum number of arrows you’d go into a season with?

Usually start with 2 dozen. Of that, 12-15 are tuned to broadheads. Remainder are practice/league arrows

I'm not starting any season with less than a dozen. My quiver holds 7, and I'm never more than 1 bad fall from those 7 all getting broken at once. I've been at 2-3 dozen plus the last year and feel very comfortable there. Some dedicated target, some dedicated hunting, and ready to go spares that could fill in either role.

Where in the world are people hunting where they need a dozen arrows at the ready!?!? I am clearly hunting the wrong spots.
I don’t know about anybody else but my answer, 23, was based on the question asked by the OP (“What’s the minimum number of arrows you’d go into a season with?”). As to arrows I take with me where I’m hunting, that would be 4. There’s a huge difference. Going in to the season, I hope I don’t break or lose so many that I get down to my final 4; but, I start the season with a couple dozen or more.

I take 5 with me in my quivalizer when hunting, and a few more along in the bow case. Normally I'll have a dozen or so built up. Shoot 3D shoots during the spring and summer and practice at home daily. I'll occasionally have to put new wraps and or vanes on, but I shoot the same arrows for hunting as I do for practice.

Like to have about 12-18 on hand. Designate a few for practice. 5 in the quiver. A little surplus in the man cave. Usually bust a few practicing. Bust a few in season.

Things happen. Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the mouth. I have had arrows broken, come out of the quiver in heavy brush, forgotten broadheads ( not me ) stolen, fallen out of pickups, and straight up quiver dumps on critters that should have been easy one and done, but the arrow gods wanted their penance.
I generally hunt a minimum of an hour from home. Usually closer to 2 not counting boot time. If something happens in the woods I want arrows in the truck or camp to reload. I also build my own arrows, and am confident in my bow tuning abilities to setup pretty much any arrows I can get my hands on in a pinch if needed. But why waste the time mid-season? Its much easier to just have arrows on tap.

I think it depends on how much you shoot at what distances - I don’t consider it practice unless it’s over 100 yards - shoot every day… if you have aluminum inserts you will get more bent arrows - if you have titanium or SS you usually don’t bend them as easily.. last year during my season august - January I probably went through 3 dozen.
Even 1 dozen a month isn’t a big deal if I don’t drink alcohol, smoke the devils lettuce and chew tobacco 🤷‍♂️

I usually bring a dozen and have broadheads for each. I take 6 in the woods (my quiver holds six). I have never even came close to going that deep into the reserves (and my friends think that I'm nuts bringing so many) but, hunting, for me, is too valuable to mess around with.

As for pre-season and in my practice arsenals, I usually have 18-24. (I build my own and usually have another dozen blanks if needed.)

Touche’. Good point.

I usually carry 3 if I'm hunting for the day and 5 or 6 for extended backcountry hunts.

6 dedicated hunting arrows would be the minimum amount on hand for me and that's only assuming I have another 6 of the same for target.

Like a lot of others I usually have 18 to 24 of the same on hand.

Site gets bumped off, arrow lost
had my screw on release get loose, and sent a few arrows into the woods over target
hiking through brush, I've lost a couple of arrows
shoot a couple of grouse, lost arrows
I've shot 3 arrows on a single deer stand hunt before, 4 at an elk that I killed.
In MS we can shoot 3 bucks, 5 does, plus hogs

I usually have at least 6 arrows in my quiver, sometimes 7. If I didn't have a dozen going into the season, I'd be ordering another dozen.

Does anyone use their best target arrows to go hunting with? Would like to run practice/live split but don't know if unshot ones fly the same without testing them
I do all the time, don’t over think it, if they are shooting well, why wouldn’t they when you put them out of a quiver?
