What’s the fastest you’ve driven?

my buddy had that same bike. we had it gps'd over 100 on the Florence beach stock with his 260lb butt on it.
He had to gear it WAY down to actually trail ride it.
I had a built CR500 at the time, I walk away from him until I ran out of gears. He'd grab 6th and go by me waving with one finger.
lol.

Was a totally different animal than my 520exc was! Seen it in the paper and I needed that 540 because more is better:ROFLMAO: Didnt have the skills at the time to ride the trails with it. So I was a road rider (n) That was a hell of a bike!

Would love to have it now. Even just to see if it was as gnarly as I remember it was.

Yall almost have me talked into a other fast dirtbike

I miss my 500 too. That thing was unreal in the dunes.

I bought a CRF450, the throttle control was so precise it was less work, plus no jetting and constant tuning so I sold the 500.
There's just something about the rough and raw power of a CR500 though.

That makes my palms sweat to think about
It definitely wasn’t the smartest move, it was a buddy’s grandfathers boat that normally stayed at the beach. He had it pulled up for the weekend and let us have at it. We were teenagers, I sure hope my kids don’t repeat this one!

I went to the 300 and now a 250 sherco. Both way better bikes but they arent an exciting bike..

Funnest by far is making the ktm150 go fast in the woods.

Still not the same as riding a bike you are scared of :ROFLMAO:
I wouldn't say scared of, more like don't let your guard down or she'll kill you!
lol
maybe I was to dumb to be scared?

I may have been faster in a car at some point in my life, but this 20-year old bike gets me to 138 on the 1/3 mile straight at my local track.

(3rd pic is actually an older bike that never got that fast, but I just really like the photo!)

I was a young lad racing a CR480 in 1983. Loved the bike, but definitely not friendly, easy to use power!
Currently riding a KTM350SXF. Fun, fun bike!

@Steve300xcw
one of very few pics we took the time to take that turned out.

geared fast for the dunes, it would do 80 on the beach.

mine was a '91 so it was a close ratio tranny unlike the '89 that would do 105 stock!

fine line between being scared of the thing and having a lot of respect for it :ROFLMAO: That bike just made me nervous. Always had the "this might be bad" feeling when I got on the thing lol

Badass! I'm so bad about taking pics while out riding. Not a single pic of that 540. One of the very few pics of the 520. It would cruise alright, but it didnt pull like that SX did, not even close

-120 as passenger in '74 Chevelle with my brother at around 12 years old. Not fun and scary as hell. Front end was floating all over the place. I always laugh when I remember him flipping the air cleaner lid upside down "for an extra 5 horsepower". LOL! He always had 4-barrel envy.
-130 as passenger in high school in buddy's brand new '93 turbocharged Dodge Laser. That was a super fun car, but the front wheel hop and torque steer was unbearable when the boost hit.
-140 in 2000 Pontiac Bonneville SSEi. That car was way ahead of its time and the whine of the supercharger was addictive.
-160 on an on-ramp in middle Tennessee in a rented 2009 Hertz HZH Corvette. I just had to turn off the traction control and see what she'd do. At least 100 yards of black tracks and a smokeshow later I got off the throttle at 160. That was freaking awesome.
-150s several times driving my wife's '17 Mustang GT, and it had plenty left to go. That was easily the fastest car I've ever driven. Scary fast actually. The longer we owned it the more comfortable I got pushing that 6 speed manul, and we made the right decision to sell it before we got hurt.
-105-110 in my '09 free breathing and tuned Duramax. The 35s whine very loud at that speed, but otherwise its very stable. LOL!
-As mentioned above 50 in an old IH floater with 16 tons of potash in the back. I think those tires are rated for no more than 30, but it was Friday and I had a date! Had to let all the air out of my seat, because it was bouncing me against the ceiling!
