What’s the fastest you’ve driven?

To name a few

Grandpa’s 1954 JI Case tricycle gear tractor 15mph plus I’m guessing. It has a direct drive range. He started pulling keys after that. I own that tractor today.

63 on a Cervelo R3 (bike with pedals)

72mph on a hot rod Honda 350x 3 wheeler. Paced it with a car on dirt roads. My brother and I would pass cars on the blacktop with it for fun

74 f100, speedo pegged at 100, Valves floating, full moon on rock road, with the lights off.

120’s on a couple different bikes

50 in a boat and faster when on the water skis

45+ on a western flyer saucer behind a 65 dodge truck on frozen ground in Milo stubble

Ford Pinto 140 and change in a 1/4mi. I was 13 riding passenger on the floor pan. Tub fender as my seat back.

Way faster in aircraft I’ve flown. But 4000fpm vertical up/down is a blast.

Today everything I own is relatively slow for a reason.

130 ish ford probe

Over 100 bunch of times on different sleds but that’s how fast the track was spinning the Speedo’s are way of on them found that out using on of those signs that show your speed on the streets.

Years ago, I swapped bikes with a buddy and hit 121 at the top of 2nd gear on an Aprillia v4 1100. Pulled over and swapped back to my bike where that was nearly my top speed. I’ve driven faster, I want to say mid 140’s

Do you guys think if it goes wrong at such high speed that the human mind can proceed the thought of “ this is bad, I’m gonna die !?”

Or do you think the mind glitches and it’s over ?

Maybe like 110 but I’ve always been sort of a pussy about that stuff and I’ve never been all that interested in fast bikes and cars.

I did some dumb stuff on dirt bikes and snowmachines when I was younger but going fast for the hell of it was never my jam.

165 MPH 2001 Mustang Cobra
150 MPH 2003 Mach 1 Mustang
140 MPH 1992 LX Mustang 5.0 (my username is my initials and Fox 92 for my first car, a 92 Fox Body.)

The fastest accelerating street car I have ever been in was a 2004 Cobra, Kenne Bell supercharged with dyno confirmed 605 RWHP.

Horsepower numbers are horrendously over exaggerated in most street cars unless they have been run on a dyno. In my many years in the car scene, I have learned if someone tells you they have a 500 HP car, they usually don't even break 400.

That 600 RWHP mark is about the maximum amount of power you can realistically have fun with on the street.

125 in 71’ corvette, figured out the front end needed rebuilt, used every bit of 2 lanes. I think I was 15 yo maybe 16😬. Probably a reason I wasn’t allowed to have a DL until 18.

143 on a pos Honda CBR, helmet wobble got pretty intense so I backed off.

The '03 Tacoma is governed @ 97mph, was close to 120mph in a early 2000s Camero but I was just a passenger princess otherwise it would have been faster.

Surprisingly i have only owned pretty slow vehicles all my life but... I have managed to get a decent amount of speeding tickets...🤔

Governor maxed out at 100 in my high school car, a 2001 astro van (only the coolest car ever...).

In high school, my girlfriends car was a mid 90s trashed Toyota tercel. It was a manual, which I didn’t know how to drive. I was practicing driving it, with her in the passenger seat when I hit the governor's limit of 110. She was pissed, but she got over it. We just celebrated 8 years together too.

Got a ticket that same year for going 97 in a 45.

Lost a couple good ones to stupid stuff like that. I don't drive like that anymore, never.

I've topped out everything I've ever owned or been assigned the controls to...

Except for one. I've never found the drag limit on my ported/pullied LSA swapped head/cam 6.0L 2011 Caprice. Somewhere around 720hp at the crank with 15psi of boost, and pretty dang slippery aero with long 3.27 gears. I gave an honest attempt once but ran out of nerve at 167mph on the stock Goodyear RSAs. Then I had more kids and haven't had the guts to try again on better tires.

Scariest was probably 125 in an 8.1L swapped 4x4 squarebody suburban. Lifted solid axle front ends get weird at high speed.

0.95M in the air. I never got the chance to fly something that wouldn't end up in a bad situation if you somehow went supersonic. Scariest was somewhere just shy of 0.9M in a dive with an anhedral wing aircraft. The first time you feel an uncommanded wing dropoff due to transonic instability in an aircraft that's about to violently depart controlled flight is the last time you want to get caught near that.

These days I have fun running open road races and wheel to wheel endurance road course events. 120+ mph down the backstraight of VIR with a bunch of other cars around you is good clean fun that won't end up with you locked up and (probably) won't kill you.
