What’s the coolest thing you found in the back country

6 miles from roads at 9000', I located just the head of a shingle hatchet, and a couple dozen 6" long custom nails. Left the nails took the hatchet,. I still have it, it's pretty cool.

I've also found arrow heads.

While Elk hunting in Colorado I found a 6ft antique crosscut saw hanging in a massive old Ponderosa. My guess is it had been there since the 1950's but it could be much older.

Deep in the Wyoming Backcountry about 15 miles from the nearest road I found this old J Ryall fly reel. It had survived through a burn that had occurred several years prior. I actually found a guy who specifically repairs these old Ryall reels and I had him restore it, replacing all of the plastic pieces that melted. I've caught many fish with it over the years now and have found it to be a very fine reel.1582973526807_image.jpeg1582973533777_image.jpeg1582973537297_image.jpeg
Crosscut saw was hanging in a very old tree by the remaining handle.

Update: Picture of the restored reel today on my 4wt rod.1226200958.jpg

Was Javelina hunting with my teenage son near Deming N.M. this past Jan.
and found an old sheath knife with the handle rotted off of it. Blade has a
rusty patina on it but I bet with a little work it will clean up. I forget the brand
now but I believe it was German made.
Just looked, its a Blackhawk.
