Orion's are sweet coolers. Great looks, very functional and they clearly pay attention to detail. Lots of nice little features.
Personally, after doing a good amount of research comparing all the top brands (Yeti, Grizzly, Orion, Pelican, K2, Brute & Engle) I went with Canyon Coolers. Once you get into the premium brands, they're all very similar in terms of their ability to keep things cold, durability and weight. So for me the factors that lead me towards Canyon were: 1) They're generally priced just a little better ($50 less on avg.) 2) Color pattern. I plan to keep these coolers forever. All solid colors (especially white), show wear and tear a lot more over time vs patterns, even though it doesn't impact function. Over time it starts to look beat up. Hell, a white one will look beat up after one rough trip. Canyon Coolers offer colors with a granite pattern, so dirt, scuffs, etc are nearly indistinguishable. Thus, so far, they always looks relatively new. Do I really care for hunting, not so much. But if I paid hundreds of dollars for a cooler I'm going to use it for BBQ's, tailgate parties and other social gatherings. Plus maybe for resale value. So I would rather not have it look like it bounced around in a dirty truck. 3) Function....really more design/shape. Canyon Coolers are perfectly square and have recessed hardware. Initially they look odd, but there's no wasted space. When I pack the truck square shaped items pack better, where items with tapered designs or protruding rims at the top don't. Ever use a couple plastic bins for gear? When they're next to each other you end up with wasted space between them at the bottom. So I try to avoid that. Also, when I'm sliding the cooler in and out of the truck, often with other gear on each side, recessed latches make a big difference. They don't catch on anything. I've had past coolers and/or bins where the damn latch catches on everything, so you pull multiple items out (Coleman) or break the latch off (Igloo).
I may be nit-picking here, but when you spend that kind of money it seems appropriate to be picky. I have the 22Qrt (just awesome and really functional for normal use) and 75Qrt for hunting, camping, fishing etc. I also have a 150qrt Coleman Extreme for when I go elk hunting. I found the really high capacity premium coolers were getting too heavy. Takes two guys to move it (more if fully loaded) and we felt it was getting to the point of risking someone hurting their back just getting the darn thing in/out of the truck. Also, they usually don't slide out of the truck bed either due to the bottom material having so much grip and those big ones get awkward. ....just my 2 cents for what we learned.
